I’ve been using JSON.Net to serialize objects to and from JSON for years.
However, ever since I heard that ServiceStack had a faster JSON serializer I’ve wanted to try it.
After all, speed is important, especially on a mobile devices, and if I can make my code run faster by just swapping out one third party library for another then that’s a simple decision.
Today I finally got around to
The Featured Discussion Board Post this week is ”There is a bug in cameraexplorer“, by Ding Young.
The post was selected because it is a good example of how developers can work with Nokia to improve code samples and help fix bugs.
The discussion starts with the poster raising a possible bug on the Nokia Developer Camera Explorer example project. This app explores some of the features of the Windows Phone 8 camera API, and was found to fail on some non-Nokia devices when accessing properties like “AutoFocusRange” (even though runtime checks indicated that the properties were supported).
The result was a change to the app to ensure that problematic functions are only run on Nokia devices (at least until the defects are fixed). This is necessary because we can’t restrict the software to only installing on Nokia devices.
If you have any suggestions to improve samples or projects, do contribute and get us the feedback. We will all gain from it. That’s what a community is all about!
