I have made an application which gets the users location every 10 minutes and uploads it to our server. I have used the battery monitor tool with this and when it gets the position and uploads it jumps up from .04W to nearly 2W as expected and then goes back down within a few seconds. Doing this every 10 minutes I would expect it to have very little additional affect on battery waste.
-started it at 2PM (battery remained full... at least that's what was displayed right up until around midnight-1AM)
-Server reported that location was stopped sending around 5:30AM (unfortunately i was not awake to see what was happening)
-When I got up a few hours after it stopped sending battery was 1 bar and giving me flat battery warnings.
So from 2pm-12AM a solid 10 hours use my batter showed full, then somehow in the next 6 hours it went from full to flat.
a) Would this be expected when running a location app every 10 minutes to get about 12-15 hours batter life?
b) Could something have gone on around the time it stopped sending location to server, possibly causing the GPS connection to remain alive or even the internet connection draining the battery super quick?
Any knowledge, help of experience would be greatly appreciated.
