We are developing an action game for s60/40. Now we are at the stage of sound programming.
We have 1 question:
1- Can we have 2 players playing 2 or more audio sources at the same time?
- player_music is a backgound music, player_music.setLoopCount(-1);
- player_sfx_1 need to be started while player_music is playing.
We tried it on simulator, all works, we can at least have 2 players of music and 1 player of SFX playing at the same time,
- 5310 (s40) won't play SFX when music is on
- N95 can play music and play sfx, but it can't have 2 music players play at the same time.
Everything depends on the devices? Or we can do it better?
And actually, my experience with the N95 is that it is possible to play two MediaPlayers simultaniously, even though I only tried with two files of the same format (for example .mp3), so I don't know what it will do if you are using two differently encoded files...
Thx Tiger79. As r2j7 suggested, I read these article, with s60 3rd edition, audio mixing is possible and we tested on N95. Although the responding time of wav is not ideal. And MMAPI is not open sourced, so I think it's not possible to do any fancy sound mixing stuff with it.
