a quick question: is real audio streaming of MP3 content supported on Asha full touch and/or Asha software platform devices? If not, what are the available options? Progressive download? RTSP? Anything else?
when you mean real audio streaming do you mean Real (the company) propriatery formats or real time audio streaming?
I can tell you that RTSP is indeed available on Asha FT (you can check out my app http://store.ovi.com/content/387063 which streams rtsp vod starcraft2 games)
progressive download i believe should work (as it does on the symbian ones that support it) but i never tested it on any Series40 device.
Among "Audio Features" at Asha 311 Device details an "Audio Streaming" is presented. Unfortunately, without supported formats description.
Does anyone know mp3 and aac streaming is supported? Most common internet radio are broadcast using one of these formats.
Thank you Kaj-Michael. Player works good.
Could you provide an example on how to play mp3 streams?
Did you use some third party libraries or it's on pure J2ME Mobile Media API?
There are plenty of examples in the wiki, for example this one: http://developer.nokia.com/Community...dio_in_Java_ME
But the most important thing is to set "progressive_download: enabled" in your midlets .jad file to enable streaming playback.
Thanks. Will try to implement a simple app as soon as I'll have some spare time.
How can I build a streaming based Java app for Asha mobiles.
Any suggestions as Iam new to java programming.
If you are trying to stream audio or music on S40 with J2me... use progressive download On settings in JAD with MIDP media Player.

And of course when a board lists 5 threads, and the second one is called "Audio streaming on Asha devices", you may want to check it. Even if you will say "Live TV" in your next post (I remember you usually want more than audio).
