I know the WAP gateway will compile the WML file to WMLC file and deliver the WMLC file to the mobile to display. The compilation is required as to compress the size, etc.
How is the XHTML? Will it get compiled before sending the phone? Or it will just send the plain text formatted XHTML to the mobile?
XHTML content is not compiled. If WAP gateway is used, it passes XHTML content through in text format.

If XHTML does not get compiled, the contents will not get compressed as WMLC. Hence in contrast with WML, XHTML contents will be more costly to the users, since more data needs to be sent for the same amount of infomation. Am I right?
