I'm trying to open a socket connection to port 80 on a Nokia 6630 device. This throws a Security Exception on the device. If this is Nokia's policy, how else can I test my product on the phone? Is there a way around this issue? Is this prevalent on ALL Nokia devices, or just Series 60s?
On the other hand, this exact code, causes my Series 40 (Nokia 6230i) phone to reboot altogether!
The reason I'm trying to utilize a socket connection in the first place is because I'm failing to chunk my HTTP request using the normal HttpConnection.
Thank you for your reply,
But the problem is the port has to be 80 since I need to send a huge request data to an http server and I can't load it all into memory at once so it should be chunked, I tried to send a chunked http request but the server response was (the request caontains invalid character >), do you have any idea about how to send a chunked http request from nokia 6630 or ven through sockets but to port 80.
an unsigned midlet is not allowed to establish a socket connection to port 80, 443, 8080 as the program should use httpconnection. However there are problems with this implementation on the Nokia 6630 and some operators' wap-gateways.
Probably the easiest way around these problems is to change the port on which the server is listening.
