Nokia Create Mini Missions 5 and 6 Winners announced
December 16, 2013 Comments
Finding great new apps is what we live for here at Nokia Developer, and we have some great ones to share with you from our review of submissions to the Nokia Create Mini Missions 5 and 6. Drum roll please ….
Mini Mission 5 challenged developers to make apps shine on the 6”, 1080p displays of Nokia Lumia 1520 phones. And the entries did shine. Brilliantly.
Car Starter took top prize for its attention to design detail and great use of the big display. Car Starter is a Windows Phone 8 dashboard application for the commuter. Our reviewers like the way developer RWI modified the start screen compared to the interface you find on smaller Lumia phones. User Lucas reviews the app with “5 stars! Beautifully minimalistic, Metro / Modern UI designed app with only the features you need in car mode.” Car Starter also took first prize in Mini Mission 4 for the developer’s “use of MixRadio APIs along with Windows Phone Voice Commands to make something really useful that enhances our product with a simple driver-friendly UI.”
Runners up include:
- Death to Ninja
- Pin Notes Color
- Eyes on Dragon
- The CHIVE
- Surf Forecasts - LaMMA
- Tweet It!
Mini Mission 6 challenged developers to make their app available in at least one additional language to increase the market potential of their apps. It was tough to narrow the field for this mission, but here are the winning entries:
Camera Buddy++ was a hit with our reviewers. The core app is a very well-designed Lens app that makes it easy for consumers to play with different filters for their photos. For this mission, developer Rob Kachmar expanded localisation to include English, Spanish, Chinese (simplified), Russian, Italian, Portuguese, French, and Thai. With these localisations the app now reaches the overwhelming share of Windows Phone market in their local language.
