SMS WAP-push with arbitrary content?
I understand that with WAP-Push via SMS, I could push a Service Indication and Service Loading to a phone (despite the fact that it seems Nokia phones does not support SL), which may contain a URL/link to the actual object I'm dealing with.
I'm wondering is it possible to use an SMS WAP-Push to send, say an image? Or anything (any MIME type for instance) that the phone could understand? Like, is it supposed to work if in the WAP-Push content type I set it to image/jpeg or image/vnd.nok-wallpaper. Will the phone be happy with it?
I know that because of the size of an SMS can be, I might need to use multiple concatenated SMS if I really want to send a big content. Will this work along with WAP-Push?
Re: SMS WAP-push with arbitrary content?
Yes, Wap-Push is used by most content delivery platforms worldwide to send multimedia content: color logos, polyphonic ringtones, video, Java games.
The Wap Push includes the URL giving access to the content, of course the recipient must have Wap enabled (and GPRS/UMTS or at least Wap CSD) to be able to retrieve the content.
