    Re: DrawText + nonEnglish

    I am using Carbide 1.1 Pro. The encoding is at Edit->Set Encoding->Other->UTF-8.
  2. Re: What three issues cause the most wasted time in Development

    1) Obscure, lacking, plain wrong and useless ("Executes the command", "Runs" and other such meaningless method summaries) documentation.
    2) Lack of a good IDE. Carbide.C++ is a step in the right...

    Re: ReadL() error

    The problem is as follows:

    You are trying to execute the following method:
    RReadStream::ReadL(TDes16 &, TChar)

    However, as the error says, your parameter types are incorrect:...

    Re: Wrong *.rsc and *.rsg paths...

    Right click on the resource files in Carbide and select properties. There are compile targets for every file there. Change these accordingly.

    Re: DrawText + nonEnglish

    Even if you save the file with the Russian code page, the compiler will read it as English. Save the file using the UTF-8 or Unicode code page and see whether something changes.

    Re: How to increase the HEAP Size

    An RArray stores all of its data in the heap. No matter what the data type is.

    Therefore, the heap is the possibly limiting factor here. I believe it was 4 MB by default. The stack is 8 KB by...

    Re: EPOC emulator slow and steady

    I agree.

    Even worse than the slowness is the unstability - sometimes it just freezes when loading, sometimes it just closes mysteriously. Having to wait a minute for it to load and then having it...

    Re: speed optimization

    Perhaps the CPU is just so slow it cannot process it fast enough?

    Try adding some timing calls - for example, write the time spent decoding a frame to a debug log file and see what the slow part...

    Re: Array question

    To add to that, (TUint8 a[6]) is very very incorrect. You cannot pass arrays as parameters.

    Periodic freezes of Carbide 1.1 pro

    Carbide has suddenly started to have "hiccups" where it freezes for 1-2 seconds every now and then.

    These happen:
    * when closing a tab or opening one (always happens)
    * when switching to a new...

    Re: Breaking through 3rd security

    On the other hand, with some serious effort, it could perhaps be disguised as simply a bug by the creators. Or even easier - one could just create a small fake "throwaway" company without much...

    Re: Ctags?

    The issue is probably that Carbide warns you that "CTags is missing or bla bla bla". You can safely ignore this - it is not an error.

    I believe CTags is the information collector for the code...

    Re: Does Symbian Support RTP?

    Stenlik, just about all internet routers support replying to UDP packets, even behind a NAT barrier. They create a tunnel for every packet and allow for responses to go in the other direction. This...

    Re: Syntax error _LIT()

    This is very simple. Indeed, it is even documented (somewhere...).

    The parser is simply not that accurate for the real-time code analysis.

    That's it. It is just a parser error. It will work...

    Re: Validation of datafield!!

    First of all, what do you mean "it crashes"? It should close and tell you some error code one way or another! Are you really saying it crashes the entire emulator?

    Secondly, from what I see right...

    Re: Decompile Symbian ARM DLL or APP

    No, there is no way to get C code back.

    At best, an expert might be able to replicate the functionality with months of work.

    Reverse engineering is not feasible.

    Re: How can I execute my program?

    To put it in other words: console applications cannot directly be executed on phones but you can launch them from another program (not a console one).

    What does "Normal C++ (VC) application" mean?

    There are no abnormal C++ applications :P

    Re: Error with 'new', 'memset' and 'new'

    Yes, you are overwriting memory outside of your struct.

    Also, the

    if (!iRcvData )

    is not required, since new (ELeave) automatically leaves if the memory is not allocated.

    Re: What does capability X let me do?

    But that approach is so wrong - the certification needs to be planned in advance. I cannot just at one point say "oh, we need a higher level of certification". There are budgets and deadlines - it...

    The Subclipse SVN plugin for Eclipse works fine with carbide.C++ Express, at least for me.
  24. Re: Binding to Remote IP address Fails with -1

    You are not supposed to bind to a remote address.

    If you just want to send, use the same socket you use for receiving.

    The binding sets where the "pipe" is at your end. If you want to send, you...
  25. Re: Does socket has a limit of receiving the packet?

    (I may have misunderstood your issue - the description was a bit vague in some parts. If that 667 byte packet is the ONLY packet you are ever able to receive from the network, then something else is...
