    Re: CreateGradientBitmapL API

What do you then do with the CFbsBitmap created in iBgBitmap? Maybe the problem is in that code.

    Re: Twitter Client in Qt

Gravity is a good one. I think there's a ten day free trial available on Ovi if you want to give it a go.

    Re: Cleanup when panic occurs

If you app is written correctly it won't panic. Better to get rid of the panics then try to handle them.
  4. Re: Error opening port in Symbian S60 3rd edition FP1

    Hi Guarav,

You say that the Write function leaves, but it is not a leaving function (otherwise it would be WriteL). Are you sure it is leaving?

    Re: SdpAgent in console application

In your RunL, you need to re-issue the asynchronous request and SetActive() all over again in order to get another result, otherwise you'll be waiting some time.
  6. Re: Error opening port in Symbian S60 3rd edition FP1

Just after you call the asynchronous function:

    TRequestStatus status;
    iCommPort.Write(status,_L8("hello0000");
    User::WaitForRequest(status);

When it returns (if it does) you can check...
  7. Re: Error opening port in Symbian S60 3rd edition FP1

    Hi,

Have you tried using User::WaitForRequest instead of an AO? This is a bit more straightforward, just for checking purposes.

    Let us know what happens,

    Re: AdbDaemon USER 10 error

    USER 10:
This panic is raised when the position value passed to a 16-bit variant descriptor member function is out of bounds. It may be raised by the Left(), Right(), Mid(), Insert(), Delete() and...
  9. Re: Serial Communication on ports in Third edition

Does the definition of RComm::Config say that it returns an error code? If it does then u should be checking that and not just ignoring it. It would also give you an idea of what is going wrong.
  10. Re: Symbian Foundation announces beta website test programme

At the moment the beta is only open to Nokia employees (like myself) and maybe some other companies. It will probably be launching as soon as feasible so you shouldn't need to wait too long.

Re: delete file failure in JSR 75

Is the file definitely loaded? Your path looks interesting, which SDK are you using? Are you sure that path exists on the device and you're not accidently using the PC path?

    Re: Low Memory

When you say out of memory errors, I assume you mean KErrNoMemory (-4)? This shouldn't be caused by too many files being downloaded. That would be KErrDiskFull(-26). KErrNoMemory refers to no...
  13. Re: How can I tell if a color is dark or light from its RGB values?

    Try looking at this site:

    http://www.help4web.net/webmaster/Color/RGB-Values.html

It seems that the dark colours have at least one of the values very low, and the light colours have all of them...

    Re: typecasting is crashing

You hardly need a function to return the maximum size of a float. One, because it's already defined for you in Symbian (KMaxTReal32, as given by deepchand86), two because it's not the sort of thing...

    Re: Reading from file

    Hi,

Can you give a few more details? How does it 'not work'? If you think you know which bit of code is working differently then please post it here. There definitely is a way to do what you want...

Which GetUid might you be talking about? You need at least to give the class like this 'MyClass::GetUid()'

    Re: TLeave Doubt!

And FYI, ELeave is a value that is passed into the new() function to indicate that if the object cannot be created (due to lack of memory for example) then the call to new should leave, rather than...
  18. Re: Check the existence of a string in a string pool (table)

A quick poke around the docs isn't clear on the matter. The best question I guess would be asking what it is exactly you are trying to do?
  19. Re: Is it possible to replace a call with CTelephony?

The CTelephony::Swap documentation says that it can only be used if both calls are owned by that ISV. To answer a second call while one is already active, you must either hangup the first call or at...

    Re: Base64 encoding exception

Maybe it is a bug in the library, but are you sure you aren't passing any pointer? HBufC9::Des() returns a pointer based descriptor, so you need to check exactly what it is returning. I would see...

    Re: central repository

    Hi,

The central repository is sort of like the Windows registry. You can store system-wide settings there that can be given a type (Int, String etc) and accessed using a UUID. The settings will...

Re: diff b/w Terminate() and Kill()?

Not much, except that Terminate is intended to be used when a process is exiting in abnormal conditions (i.e. some error happened and you don't want it to continue), and Kill is meant to be used in...

    Re: Application trial mode

You could do it based on number of uses, and keep track of this via a data file in your apps data caged directory (C:\private\<App UUID>)
  24. Re: Nokia 5800 : support for hardware floating-point?

Well, there is a version of the ARM11 (the processor that the 5800 uses) that supports floating point. I can't find any exact source regarding which one it is. I think it's up to the processor itself...

    Hi,

NKern::Lock is a very, very low-level API which is available to Symbian partners only. It would typically be used when writing device drivers. To answer your question though, it locks the...
