    Re: RHTTPTransaction issue

You should post more code, everything you do with RHTTPTransaction object and where you declare it. Also, you only have to clean-up explicitly in the container class destructor, otherwise you should...

    Re: Image EXIF data

Aperture? Shutter? We are talking about a phone camera, aren't us? Or are there any Symbian-based SLR's out there?

As for conversion, while it's slow, unless there's hardware for it which I doubt...

    Re: Detecting Memory Leaks

Yes, there're APIs for counting memory blocks, same as used by system to panic on exit (by the way panics including one on exit about unfreed memory are displayed to user on older devices).
  4. User::Language() returns 160 in Japanese Vodafone's Nokia 6630

When phone language set to English. Can this be correct and what could it mean? In my program I expected language code to have no more than two digits.

    Re: Detecting Memory Leaks

Sorry I forgot about this file. For me it usually works to just monitor memory at alloc panic address by hand, so I don't know about other methods. I also use the fact that although windows can load...

    Re: Detecting Memory Leaks

Sorry I have no idea what could be the problem then - the same SDK displays complete error message for me. Try checking the debug output (though I don't know how to get it outside of Visual Studio).

    Re: Detecting Memory Leaks

Are you using debug (udeb) version of the emulator? There may also be other reasons for paniking on exit: files not closed, controls not removed from control stack etc, but some reason should be...

    Re: Detecting Memory Leaks

If you have some memory not deallocated when your program exits, it will panic (end abnormally). Rest depends on where you run it: in the emulator you get a panic message with an address of the first...
  9. Re: How to convert char*-style to unicode string?

Little correction to what yucca said: for char we should probably use TPtrC8, and then Copy(...) it to TBuf or HBuf.
P.S. Even one more correction: for zero-terminated string we can use TPtrC8(const...

Re: Open File in other thread

Open file in the same thread. System objects are per-thread in Symbian.
  11. Re: How can I create dynamically a menu bar in Series80?

You can load any menu bar from resource and just edit it. Pointer to currently loaded menu bar is available via CEikonEnv::Static()->AppUiFactory()->MenuBar() . Sorry if not an answer to your problem.
  12. Yet another N6630-specific bluetooth problem

If I use bluetooth for a long time for GPS traffic it stops working until phone is rebooted. Switching bluetooth off and on does not help. Searching for bluetooth devices work, but I cannot send or...

    Re: convert bitmap

I know you guys already moved from the subject, but you can try CWsBitmap::Duplicate(CFbsBitmap::Handle()) for converting CFbsBitmap to CWsBitmap, probably it will work.
  14. Re: TInt16 *daddress=(TInt16 *)iWsBitmap->DataAddress(); is always zero.

Hi gilly_kumar, you should not use default constructor of CWsBitmap, use another one instead.

    Re: Questions about reading files

RFile allows you to do it asynchronously (not wait for read or write to complete), and also allows you to handle errors using the Leave/Trap system of Symbian. Working with RFile is very easy if you...

Re: using dll in symbian c++ app..

All system calls are essentially dll calls as well, user dll is in no way different. Add dll's .lib file name to your .mmp and include .h into the source. Creating dll is described here:...

  19. Re: err -1 while converting description to bitmap

Aaaaaaaaah........ Your 'image' is not in the binary format yet, looks like base64 for me but i'm not very good in this stuff. You should extract only a portion from in between the square brackets...
  20. Re: err -1 while converting description to bitmap

I think you should get to know the type of your image first. Then you should make sure the header is there it is supposed to be. Then you should use TMdaBmpClipFormat if your image is Windows BMP,...
  21. Re: err -1 while converting description to bitmap

Try to specify a variable of type TMdaBmpClipFormat or whatever your descriptor format is as a second parameter to OpenL. You can find these types in <Mda\Common\Video.h>. No need to assign something...

    Re: memory card serial number

There's a pseudo-unique id assigned at format time which can be accessed via TVolumeInfo::iUniqueID. I don't know about other serial numbers.
  23. Re: HTTP Client - Synchronous HTTP POST Calls?

You can use GetNextDataPart in order to do something with returned data, otherwise you can just dump them with ReleaseData(). I cannot write code for you since I have no idea what your task is...

  25. Re: HTTP Client - Synchronous HTTP POST Calls?

You did specify MHTTPTransactionCallback when you called RHTTPSession's OpenTransactionL, didn't you? MHFRunL with event.iStatus of ESucceeded will be called back when operation is finished. You'd...
