    Re: Nokia 6230 Application Error

for 6230i - Without knowing any code, you're probably going to have to go thru a tedious process of debugging either by printing debugging info on to a form and display it, or try removing a...

Re: How to remove Soft keys

Sorry. I wasn't very clear with my terminology.

You have to use Canvas (or GameCanvas if you are programming a game) and use the setFullScreenMode() method. However, this is low level API, meaning...

Re: How to remove Soft keys

    Answer to 1:

Unfortunately, tou cannot remove it. If it annnoys you that much, you can reprogram everything to use full canvas, which is annoying in a different way.

    Cheers.

    SMS delivery reports

Does anyone know whether it's possible to receive SMS delivery reports thru J2ME? Does the delivery report come back to the same port the SMS was sent, or is it sent through regular channels, or not...

Hmmm... I can't think of why that would happen unless either your data response is somehow corrupted.... or....

From the code above, you are specifying the true boolean to handle timeout...

If the above wasn't a typo, perhaps doing this will solve your problem:
    symbol.setString(symbols[i]);

Re: nokia sets doesn't allow editing textfield

Imo, it has nothing to do with TextField.DECIMAL as it is a problem with the the other textfield.

When you say symbol, are they normal letters of the alphabet (eg. arb) or are they actually...
  8. Re: (HttpConnection)Connector.open(url,Connector.READ_WRITE,true) throws IOException

Afaik, A midlet doesn't necessarily need to be signed or permission explicitly stated in order to use HTTP. If you cannot use it (eg. you didn't sign up for any GPRS service or have your line barred...

    that's a C++, not java solution.
  10. Re: How to display some text on mobile screen ( not in Application screen)

what do you mean by the mobile screen and not the application screen?

The only control you have over the screen is when you app is started and running in foreground (for most phones) so you cannot...

If I'm not mistaken, a SecurityException or a ConnectionNotFoundException will be thrown.

    Re: Redirecting System.out

    Not on the phone unfortunately.

You will either have to use Alerts, or text written onto a Form/Canvas or if you so wish, write to a File if your phone support FileConnection. Though I've never...

    Re: MIDlet Suite security

Afaik, you cannot start another midlet using a midlet in that way. Only the OS can invoke that.

There is a workaround. You can have your 2nd midlet listening to a port, and send a message to that...
  14. Re: ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: in Carbide.j1.0.1 while running S60 and S80 emulators

If it is only those 2 emulators (the prototype) emulators in which you have problems, you shouldn't worry.

A prototype emulator is just that - a prototype, meaning that it is not as good as a...

    Re: 403 Forbidden Error

I should be clearer.. I have not know the API to fail in making simple POST requests... I think at one point, some phones had problems with headers, but it's alot less common (if at all) in newer...

    Re: 403 Forbidden Error

Where in this forum did you read that? Afaik, there are no known issues about not being able to use the Java HTTP because of API failure. And yes, POST methods should be allowed.
  17. Re: How to run 3rd party applications in Symbion SDK.........URGENT!!!!

The file should have an extension. You can see it if you right-click and select properties. FileType should be "Application". THat is what you want

    Cheers
  18. Re: How to run 3rd party applications in Symbion SDK.........URGENT!!!!

I am not really sure if there is an efficient or easier way to do this. I do it the long way. If I only have the jar without the code is to right click on it:

Open With -> [Browse to find proper...

    Re: 6680 doesn't run midlet

System.out or System.err will not give you any output on real devices. Only works on emulators. Only thing to use is to attach your error to a form and display it, or to display alerts.

    And you...
  20. Re: Handling ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException in Nokia S60 and S80 Series

This is just an initial guess.... but probably means you are trying to access data that is not yet there.

It's really difficult to see what your problem is because there's modified code. So try using System.err.println(error) whenever you catch an error in a try-catch to give you a sense of that the...

    1. "Inbox" - That's questionable. The "left key" (in the 6630 and 6681 at least, i'm guessing most new S60 phones work the same) is mapped to "Compose new text message" right now. Some people might...
