    Re: database file not accessible after closing

    Perhaps a view releases the db file only if it's destroyed, which happens (may happen) implicilty at the end of new().
    Obvious answer, not necessarily correct.

    UUID generation

    I wonder if someone ported any UUID generation library to PyS60?
    I've asked similar question on C API forum since I can't see such library at all....
  3. Is there a UUID generation API / library for Symbian?

    Compatible with RFC 4122, like OSSP uuid perchance?
    Or perhaps OSSP uuid will work on the phone?:)

    Re: How to do localisation

    Here is a solution which works fine for me:

  5. Re: Is SELECT DISTINCT not supported by Python / Symbian S60 3rd?

    See C++ Symbian SDK, it's not a PyS60 thing:...

    Re: exe does not start

    We-el I'm sure the script does what you tell it - prints "waiting for sms" to nowhere (since there is no console in standalone app) and quits:)

    It has to be a GUI app.

    Lol, I've actually...

    Re: Beginner Question

    You're right. My point is if the app's on the C: and you don't leave your sis behind - so with minimal effort, really - your app's code is not shamelessly visible.
    You can extract everything, like...

    Re: Beginner Question

    It's not as easy as is seems. You'd need a file explorer with allfiles capability to extract the code from private dir.
    Unfortunately with the infamous symbian security flaw this is doable:...
  10. Re: how to write and read float values to/from databases?

    You can find many useful info in Symbian SDK docs in DBMS section. PyS60 e32db is a very thin wrapper over native API. But in this case I just guessed right;) You can't give up precision (which you...
  11. Re: how to write and read float values to/from databases?

    Try %e. It works, although it's pita when you have to provide literals.

    Re: where is python location on mobile phone

    You can run sisinfo tool on the pys60 sis:
    http://www.niksula.cs.hut.fi/~jpsukane/sisinfo.html

    Here's the output for 1.4.0 runtime sis:

    Re: Minimal code to run script in application

    I've tested the first example now, all's well.
    My 'Embedded.py' script:

    def eggsMaybe():
    return 'eggs from embedded world'

    indeed resides in the c:\resource dir on emulator. Other than...

    Re: Minimal code to run script in application

    First of all, here:

    http://docs.python.org/ext/ext.html
    http://docs.python.org/api/api.html

    ... you'll find most documentation including those functions you mentioned. Python/C in PyS60 uses...
  16. Re: Custom icon with ensymble 'simplesis' command

    Nevermind. I guess 'simplesis' can only be used for some resource-packaging, since it doesn't create or register the application, it can't set an icon and can't set caps.

    So,
    I have a python...
  17. Custom icon with ensymble 'simplesis' command

    So how do you do it? 'py2sis' command accepts '--icon' parameter, why 'simplesis' doesn't?

    Re: Question about dialog

    I didn't check the pys60 sources so I don't know for sure, but if there's a limit for the 'number', well, there's not much you can do without modyfing them.
    Still I don't think it's a good idea to...

    Re: Python and database

    OK the most obvious is you're looking for an author named 'author' and not what you have in variable author So your prepare line should look like this:

    Re: Python and database

    So what exactly is the error? Can you paste it?
