  1. Re: Using the iconic softkey features in Belle + Qt 4.7.4?

To answer my own question about detecting whether the device is running Belle or not, use this API. You should get major.minor version = 5.3 on Belle and 5.2 on Anna.
  2. Re: Using the iconic softkey features in Belle + Qt 4.7.4?

It seems that you can access the standard icons using the QML ToolBar element like this, but the app I'm working on is still using C++ to manage the softkeys and I'm not changing that part to QML...
  3. Re: Using the iconic softkey features in Belle + Qt 4.7.4?

Another related question: since Qt doesn't seem to automatically detect whether or not a device is running Belle or an earlier Symbian version, how should I check this myself so the old softkey...
  4. Re: Using the iconic softkey features in Belle + Qt 4.7.4?

OK, it looks like calling QAction::setIcon is enough, but aren't there standard icons somewhere that can be used? In particular the "back" arrow icon??
  5. Using the iconic softkey features in Belle + Qt 4.7.4?

Anyone able to explain how this is done? It's listed as one of the new features supported in 4.7.4 but there's nothing I've found so far that actually tells you how to take advantage of it...

Re: Launching Nokia browser with a new URL

OK it turns out adding SwEvent does actually make it work... I'd think I had just forgotten to tell Qt Creator to generate an unsigned .sis file, the one I tried previously with Open Signed Online...

Re: Launching Nokia browser with a new URL

I've tried that too, although I only found out it was necessary from searching on Google, most code snippets do not mention it!

I tried it again this morning: created a new Qt mobile app in Qt...

Launching Nokia browser with a new URL

I really need a way to open the builtin Nokia browser with a new URL that will work even if it is already running at the time. There are lots of code snippets on here on the wiki and elsewhere that...

    Re: QDialog positioning?

Thanks, just resize()'ing it should be enough to get it to look how I wanted.

    QDialog positioning?

Every time I try to display a (non-fullscreen) QDialog in my application, it appears in the bottom left corner of the screen. It doesn't matter if I try to set a different position at runtime or in...
  11. Re: Installing embedded sis files silently using SwInst API

    OK, that's basically what I've done :)
  12. Re: Installing embedded sis files silently using SwInst API

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but I managed to get it working without doing that...what I did was take my original application and modify its pkg file. I changed it to install my modified...
  13. Re: Installing embedded sis files silently using SwInst API

I went ahead and obtained another 0x2xxxxxxx range UID, and was able to get the example modified to install my test.sisx file silently. I think I can extend it from there to install the other sis...
  14. Re: Installing embedded sis files silently using SwInst API

Thank you for that link, it looks like it'll be very helpful. The one thing I'm not clear about is the UID issues. The app I'm trying to install already has a UID allocated to it from the 0x2xxxxxxx...
  15. Re: Installing embedded sis files silently using SwInst API

OK, that's good. My next question is if I can somehow check when the main installer finishes, since I assume any attempts to do the silent installs will fail while it remains active...
  16. Re: Installing embedded sis files silently using SwInst API

OK, but won't the installer close the executable I launch with FR, RI after the installation is completed? Or will it be allowed to keep running after that?
  17. Re: Installing embedded sis files silently using SwInst API

I'm not sure that's an option, because the main application depends on the dlls in the extra sis files - on some devices it may not be able to start properly at all until these files are installed,...
  18. Installing embedded sis files silently using SwInst API

I'm trying to get an application to install a set of required libraries at the end of the normal install process. I've created a simple console app to do the installation based on the example on the...

    Re: Network positioning

If anyone cares, retrieving the position through the C++ API directly with an extension module works perfectly. This looks like a PyS60 bug to me.

    Network positioning

I'm trying to get network based positioning working through the PyS60 positioning module on an N97. I've turned off all other forms of positioning, and checked that it can actually retrieve my...
  21. Re: Silently installing packages post-installation

Thanks, that should be very helpful!

Am I correct in thinking that this method is what I should use to run the installer application after the main app is installed? (the app will be Symbian...
  22. Silently installing packages post-installation

I'm working on an app that has to support S60 3.2 devices and depends on the Open C/C++ libraries. Since most devices don't have the Open C++ libs already installed, we've embedded them in the...
  23. Re: Conditionally installing embedded SIS files

I know it wasn't recommended. As I already said, my problem is NOT specifying the conditions in the package file, I've already done that! My problem is that if I try to install the application again...
  24. Re: Conditionally installing embedded SIS files

I've already read this page on the wiki: http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/Advanced_Package_File_Options#Requisite_Lines which actually has some useful information.

    My pkg file syntax is...
  25. [moved] Conditionally installing embedded SIS files

I want to package a few SIS files inside the main installer for an application, but they only need installed on certain devices. So, I am trying to use the exists() function in the pkg file to test...
