    Re: Symbian Belle FP2 API changes

    We've been fighting with it since yesterday. I also read some Finnish guy's blog, who complained about changes in RHeap implementation (basically that an already existing RHeap cannot grow on demand...

    Symbian Belle FP2 API changes

    Hello friends,

    it seems that Symbian Belle FP2 firmware update is being pushed to devices all around the world ... it looks nice, but some compatibility breaks seem to be there. For example, our...
  3. Re: GCC 4.4.1 + Carbide 2.7 = "instantiated from here" compilation error - FIX

    Cześć,

    I would be very interested in the fixed compilator file. Can you send it to me at marian.kechlibar (at) circletech.net?

    Marian

    P.S. Didn't know that there was software industry in...
  4. Re: Problem with VoIP Audio Service in 3rd Edition Fp1 and Fp2

    We're using VAS 2.04 in many devices and it works acceptably. Definitely much better than 1.0, which had a long set of issues. Never tried 6124 classic, though; in my observations, VAS 2.0x does not...
  5. Re: Association of Publisher ID and Symbian Signed account

    Ah, that is it. So far, there is no visible option in the UI to associate a new Publisher ID; therefore I thought they would do it in the backstage.
  6. Association of Publisher ID and Symbian Signed account

    Hello,

    today our corporation received a new Publisher ID from TrustCenter.de. When is it going to be associated to our Symbian Signed account?

    In the meantime, can we still use our old...

    Re: Canceling of RConnection::Start

    Good to know. Didn't know that before. This, on the other hand, indicates that the omission of a Cancel operation for RConnection::Start() from the RConnection API is quite a serious design error.

    Re: Canceling of RConnection::Start

    Yeah, it does, provided that you can actually close the connection, which is not taken for granted.

    For example / zum Beispiel / például / například:

    Implementation like this:

    class...

    Re: Canceling of RConnection::Start

    No.

    This happens way before any network protocol operations like HTTP request/response. I thought it was obvious. RConnection does not have anything in common with specific protocols like HTTP. It...

    Re: Canceling of RConnection::Start

    Uh, it seems that this guy had a similar problem ... in 2006! He was using the synchronous version of Start(), but the nonresponsive behavior on device seems to be fairly similar.

    Canceling of RConnection::Start

    Dear Nokians,

    please help me with the following problem...

    When initializing a socket connection, I construct:
    - RSocketServ,
    - RConnection,
    - RHostResolver,
    - RSocket
    in this order. All...
  12. Re: Strange crashes of network server on Symbian Belle

    So far, I have done the following experiment.

    1. If I connect to my server service over plain TCP (no encryption), everything is all right and the Panic Observer detects no JavaComms anywhere.
    2....
  13. Re: AnalyzeTool Carbide.c++ Extension cannot process huge data files

    It seems that if the memory consumption file exceeds some 200 MB, Carbide.c++ is no longer capable of displaying even the memory leaks. The AnalyzeTool will crash with "Uncaught exception" somewhere...
  14. AnalyzeTool Carbide.c++ Extension cannot process huge data files

    When analyzing memory consumption with AnalyzeTool, there seem to be some hard-coded size limitation constants in the Carbide.c++ extension.

    A 100-MB memory consumption .dat file will produce...

    Re: Nokia AnalyzeTool and static libraries

    I will probably need to write a Java application myself, which will try to process the inefficient HTML produced by atool.exe into something humanly readable.

    One of the problems is that the HTML...

    Re: Nokia AnalyzeTool and static libraries

    I just do not know what to do.

    1. Carbide.c++ 2.7 will not show me the individual memory allocations.
    2. The HTML generated by command-line Atool.exe is unreadable.
    3. If I instruct Atool.exe to...

    Re: Nokia AnalyzeTool and static libraries

    Indeed, FAR Manager managed to show the file.

    The main problem seems to be this: it isn't really a HTML file. There is an enormous, single-line definition of a Javascript variable (the line is >...

    Re: Nokia AnalyzeTool and static libraries

    So far, I wasn't able to open the HTML with anything. When I use Notepad++, I kill it. It seems that there is some kind of hideously long single line, which can't be parsed.

    Re: Nokia AnalyzeTool and static libraries

    So, now I do have the results of Analyze Tool from an experimental run (a short one) on Nokia E51.

    The .dat file is, unfortunately, 150 MB long, and the processing takes ages. The resulting HTML...

    Re: Nokia AnalyzeTool and static libraries

    Good idea. I installed ErrRd and tried running the application again. Now it gives me: System error (-1)!

    KErrNotFound ... the most common error in the Symbian world.

    I had similar problems...

    Re: Nokia AnalyzeTool and static libraries

    So, my last message this evening.

    I have successfully built EXEs and SISes for FP1 and FP2. They can be installed in the respective phones (E51 and E52).

    BUT...

    They do not run at all. You...

    Re: Nokia AnalyzeTool and static libraries

    So, FP2 was built successfully, but FP1 was not. I am rerunning it with redirection of the output into a file.

    Edit: AHA! ERROR: Binary converter 'SVGTBINENCODE.exe' not found, stop!
