  1. Re: LWUIT: Loading Images on Background Thread

    Right now I'm loading around 70 images, around 1mb each. By "slow" I mean that the UI is completely unresponsive (I can't scroll) until all images are finished loading.

    My real requirement is...
  2. Re: LWUIT: Loading Images on Background Thread

    Thanks for your responses. I will try using Display.callSerially();

    The thread is simply started like this:

    new Thread(new LoadImagesTask()).start();

    Re: LWUIT: Getting clicks in ContainerList

    Can anyone tell me exactly what I need to change? I can subclass ContainerList, but I don't see how I can intercept these clicks.

    Re: ContainerList problems

    I think the key is that layout corrects itself when the cell is clicked. Why would that happen? How can I make that happen to begin with?

    EDIT: So I found that if I call revalidate() on cellCon, I...

    Re: ContainerList problems

    This definitely speeds things up, but seems to mess up my layout. I see some big gaps between cells, some cells are cut off at the bottom. A cell with a messed up layout seems to correct itself once...

    Re: ContainerList problems

    Here is the renderer. As you can see, there's some kind of sloppy code in there that prevents it from starting the image download if it's not the case that the cell is about to become visible. Even...

    Re: LWUIT: Tabs with soft keyboard

    Thanks for your response! VirtualKeyboard does not have a setVisibilityListener method for me.

    Also when I look at the source code for VirtualKeyboard, I don't see the setVisibilityListener method...

    Re: ContainerList Cell Selection

    I've also noticed that this only seems to happen on ContainerList, List does not seem to behave the same way.

    Re: ContainerList click listener

    Okay, I see now that getSelectedItem is giving me the actual model item, not the list container as I mistakenly believed.

    Re: ContainerList problems

    I got the images to load lazily, but these initial getCellRendererComponent() calls are still taking forever. ~10 seconds on a list of ~450 items.

  18. Re: ContainerList: How to detect/skip initial calls to getCellRendererComponent

    This would would still start all x number of image downloads immediately, because ContainerList calls getCellRendererComponent for all cells when the list is created.

    It looks like it calls that...
  19. Re: ContainerList: How to detect/skip initial calls to getCellRendererComponent

    Again, how would you know when you "reach the bottom of the list"? Certainly not by getCellRendererComponent(), because that will be called for all 20 cells immediately.

    Thanks for your response! I'll check this out.
