    users file access webDav

    hello

after installing raccoon on my phone (e60) i uncommented the hello:world in the users file to access the *.*.*.*/edit directory.

if i try to connect the site with ie7 the password promt shows up, but didn't accept the hello:world username password combination.

    what have i done wrong?

    thx

Ensure that no funny characters were added to the file by the editor you were using and that there are proper linefeeds. A pretty safe approach is to connect to the phone using PC-Suite, drag the users file to the deskop, edit it with notepad and drag it back.

    thank you
It seems that your users file is not ascii, but some Unicode encoding where ascii text is represented using multiple bytes. And it seems that notepad is Unicode aware as well, because the file looks just fine when looking at the contents using notepad. How did you edit the file?

Anyway, you need to create a users file containing just ascii characters. Use emacs or some other programmers editor. Notepad is fine as well, provided you start with an empty file.

Also, if it still doesn't work after having changed users to pure ASCII, try adding the drive-letter to the AuthUserFile paths in httpd.conf.

Now that the Apache root directory is hardwired to the C:-drive, not using a drive letter in the paths may cause problems if the binaries have been installed to the E:-drive (the memory card).

this appers after the first try:

    Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /edit/ on this server.
    Apache/2.0.52 (symbian_s60) DAV/2 mod_python/3.1.3 Python/2.2.2 Server at 192.168.0.20 Port 80
the files are now edited with emacs.

Yes, they both now seem to be pure ascii.

I tried them as such and were able to mount the Apache directory, so please check that you didn't get that error message from some cache somewhere.

Incidentally, I just realized that there appears to be a conflict in the default httpd.conf. The <Files ~ "\.ht"> directive will also affect webdav and probably make it impossible to edit the .htaccess files over webdav.

    Re: users file access webDav

    Hello,
I managed to get the conf file right, at least the authorization part. Earlier 405 Method Not Allowed resulted from PUTting /dummy/test.html. Now the error message has changed to 500 Internal Server Error. Other non-authorized target directories still give 405 as they should.

Any idea what causes 500 when trying the correct directory?

    Moi Risto,

Is anything meaningful written to \Data\Apache\logs\error.log?

A fair amount of stuff is being written there, so you might want to first delete the file before trying again.
