    Menu: Feature not supported

    I've succesfully run my application on the emulator, but, while trying on the phone, message from the subject appears before application actually runs.

    Any idea what might cause this?!

    Tnx.

    You are propably using some kind of API function call that is not supported in the target device.

    You might want to try out the "errrd" trick:

    Also this might be capability related issue. Are you using 3rd edition device?

    Re: Menu: Feature not supported

    1. I've tried 'errrd trick', but, haven't helped

    2. I know little about capabilities, but, I've noticed if I specify anything different than NONE, it won't install on my GSM (N80). Additionally, I saw in one thread that I can check capability requirements on emulator by searching epocwind.out file for PlatSec complaints - as far as I saw, none of them were detected.

    3. Amitkankani - your clue about icon is possibly correct! First I've started my application, I've got my icon (nothing fancy, a default one). After some development, the icon disappeared (there was empty rectangle above my application's name on the GSM), but, everything worked. Now, the icon is still missing and I'm getting that feature unsupported error. Could you advise how to get icon back (related or unrelated to my original problem)?

    Many thanks for your answers.

    It's default icon and I don't remember changing anything about it. All three resource files mentioned above are present on disk.

    Re: Menu: Feature not supported

    You seem to have changed the name of the mif file.... but check if u have made the changes in the resource files as well.... for example, if u change the name of mif in th .mk file, then you have to change it to same name in rss file too.

    RESOURCE LOCALISABLE_APP_INFO r_helloworldbasic_localisable_app_info
    {
    short_caption = STRING_hewb_caption_string;
    caption_and_icon =
    CAPTION_AND_ICON_INFO
    {
    caption = STRING_hewb_caption_string;

    number_of_icons = 1;
    icon_file = "\\resource\\apps\\Helloworldbasic_aif.mif";
    };
    }

    hope this helps

    Re: Menu: Feature not supported

    well, i don't know whether it helped - after few recompiles, the icon reappeared. go figure

    however, it haven't affected my original problem, but, in meanwhile, i've found what's wrong.

    last version of my .dll contains some http third party library that is made in a portable way. one of the things done in that direction is accessing memory functions over pointers, so, user can customize it (i haven't, but, it doesn't matter). such construction is done as global variable-pointer to void *(*)(int) function, which is assigned to the address of malloc function (malloc_func_type malloc_ptr = &malloc. this looks like a good code, but, breaks dll loading and application crashes with a meaningless message from the subject (bravo symbian!). i assume there is some conflict during dll initialization; perhaps somehow c library isn't loaded at that point.

    as a workaround, i've left those pointers as zeroes and initialized them within some init function. and the problem was solved.

    tnx
