Unhappy Symbian Signed --Backup & Recovry

    Hello,

I am at the end of my signing process. To register with backup server I have included .xml file in pkg. I see that my application is backed up but as some of u said, it is not installed while restore process.

    Steps I followed:
    Took Backup.
    Uninstalled the application
    Restore.

My app could not be reinstalled by restore server though I included <system_backup/> in.xml file.

My application is signed with a developer certificate. If I reinstall it manually & restore the backup I will get my application data back.

I could not understand what is the problem?

I follow the same steps for one symbian signed application it gives me same result.

can I proceed to submit my application to symbian signed?

    Help me out.

    Thanks
    bnvaikos

    Hi bnvaikos,

I'm in the almost same situation as you. It seems noboy will answer us on this issue here.

I've sent a mail to SymbianSigned@Symbian.com to consult. Maybe you can try it either.

Re: Symbian Signed --Backup & Recovry

bnvaikos & Joney: I had similar problem recently. Apparently, I found that backup/restore will NOT work if our application is signed with developer certificate.

Interestingly, it works if our application is signed with self-signed certificate.

For now, Symbian said we can request for waiver (http://developer.symbian.com/forum/t...ID=1146&#1146). So, no need to worry about backup/restore until Symbian has solved the problem.

just submit the waiveir for this, Symbian Signed know about this, your application will pass this test, Do not have to worry about this, just make sure things are good on ur side. I have done this and my application is symbian signed without any problem
