    Nokia 6680 and N73 problems

    does Nokia 6680 and N73 support image/gif?

    from the uaprof profile:
    http://nds1.nds.nokia.com/uaprof/NN73-1r100-VF2g.xml
    http://nds1.nds.nokia.com/uaprof/N6680r100.xml

    and
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/ME_Develo...955F382C9.html

image/gif is supported. but there are no such format when I used Manager.getSupportedContentTypes(null).

even image/png and image/bmp and image/jpeg and image/jpg and etc I also cant get from Manager.getSupportedContentTypes(null)

didn't I tell you already to ask this in Java section, you might find a lot better answers if you ask under the technology section you are interested in.... Not under the general sections.

    bluebelle_88,

if this is related to the Java implementation, then it has been answered already at least here
    http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...d.php?t=100658

Note that the platform itself might support picture/audio/video formats, which are not supported in the Java ME implementation.

Re: Nokia 6680 and N73 problems

    bluebelle,

Sorry for my previous answer, which is a little misleading.

All MIDP2 implementations support PNGs as images (Image class in MIDP API), and JTWI (JSR-185) requires MIDP implementations to support JPEG format too.

Manager.getSupportedContentTypes returns audio and video formats (media types) supported by a specific protocol.

There is a method called VideoControl.getSnapshot(), which
"Gets a snapshot of the displayed content. Features and format of the captured image are specified by the imageType. All implementations support at least PNG format. Available formats can be queried from System.getProperty with video.snapshot.encodings as the key."

Re: Nokia 6680 and N73 problems

is it Manager.getSupportedContentTypes just returns audio and video formats only ?

    but from this acticle:
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/ME_Develo...955F382C9.html

image/gif is supported in the S60 implementation.

and I had tested with Sony Ericsson (W800i) phone, it is work!
And there is demo application in the WTK (mmademo) to display the gif animation image.

thanks for your reply. hope you can give me the answer.

Re: Nokia 6680 and N73 problems

bluebelle, the page you link to contains also a link (in the table containing GIF reference), and on that page it is stated
    "Changes from S60 3rd Edition to S60 3rd Edition FP1
    ...
New format suffixes supported for Audio (WMA) and Video (GIF)."

So GIF support in the MMAPI is available from S60 3rd Edition FP1 onwards. Not on N73 or 6680.

Thanks for pointing this out, as without this discussion, I could have missed this new feature!

"is it Manager.getSupportedContentTypes just returns audio and video formats only ?"

First of all, it returns the media types/formats which can be used to create players in MMAPI. The MIDP implementation can support other formats for example for images through the Image class.
And yes, apparently also images can be used to create a player (if the implementation supports it - my bad.)

PS. please do not cross-post one question on many forums simultaneously, as it fragmenst the discussions and makes the discussion boards generally harder to use for everybody.

Re: Nokia 6680 and N73 problems

It is up to the implementation which formats to support, if that's what you are asking...
The MMAPI specification does not really take any preference of specific formats
