    NCF 1.2 UI is missing

    Hi,

I have first installed S60 Emulator (nS60_jme_sdk_3rd_e.zip) and then I have installed NCF 1.2 (ncf_v1_2.zip). When I bring up Nokia Connectivity Framework Full or Lite, only Window's outer frame shows up and the whole UI missing: NO toolbar, NO menubar, NO panes, nothing. Is this alright?

    Here is my system configuration.

    - XP Professional SP2
    - Has jre1.5.0_06 and jre1.6.0
    - My account belongs admin group
    - Not connected to primary (any) domain controller.

I have tried re-installing many times. I also tried with JRE 1.4.2 too. No luck.

    Thanks,
    /Ramana

Re: NCF 1.2 UI is missing

    Hi All,

After trying for a lot of time, I simply gave up and tried NCF on another laptop. It worked! I do not know why NCF window is completrely blank my first laptop (Dell D820). Probably something to do with anti-virus software or to do with permissions.

    /Ramana

Re: NCF 1.2 UI is missing

It seems that nfc 1.2 is not compatible with java 6. I had the same problem. After I installed jre1.5 and uninstalled java se 1.6 it works. I think Nokia should update their software…

Re: NCF 1.2 UI is missing

I thought I could just note another solution to this problem - install the 1.4.2 JRE along with other JRE:s, and then update the NCF startup scripts to force the framework to use a specific JRE, not the "system default":

    [NCF base directory]\bin\setLitePath.cmd defines a 'javaPath', i.e.

    Code:
    set javaPath="\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_15"
(or whatever JRE you would like to use)

bin\startNCF.cmd and bin\startNCFFull.cmd prepends the invocations of javaw with this path, i.e. in startNCF.cmd:

    Code:
    %javaPath%\bin\javaw -cp %liteCP%;%adminCP%;%externalCP% com.nokia.phone.tool.ncf.core.application.MainApplication Lite
    and similiar in startNCFFull
