    Listing available ports

    I tried listing all available ports on my phone using Javaphone API.
    I obtained something like 90 (ninety!!!) different ports!!!

    This is the Jython code I use:
    import javax.comm.CommPortIdentifier
    cpi=javax.comm.CommPortIdentifier
    ids=cpi.getPortIdentifiers()
    for i in range(0,255):
    id=ids[i]
    print id.getName()

    What I get is quite strange:
    16 IPCCH ports (from IPCCH::0 to IPCCH:15)
    5 ACM1CH ports (from ACM1CH::0 to ACM1CH::4)
    1 COM port ("COM1")
    1 IR port ("IRCOM1")
    63 (!!!) Bluetooth ports!! (from BTCOMM::0 to BTCOMM::63)

    What does this mean?
    What are IPCCH and ACM1CH ports?
    How can I access these ports? Sending data to COM1 results in nothing: no event is triggered, being the phone connected to PC or not, bot using mrouter or hyperterminal.
    And no port appears to be in use (.getCurrentOwner)( method also gives "none").

    Any help?

    Hi cassioli,

    I think you can get better replies here - http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...play.php?f=102

    Interesting is that I was not aware that is possible you use Jython with mobile devices, sounds cool

    Re: Listing available ports

    Now I noticed the device you're using, Nokia 9210c and 9210i as well as 9290, old technology, Symbian OS 6.0. Your question have not seemed to be that clear for me at first

    Are you sure it executes Jython? Are you running on emulator or device, just curiosity indeed.

    I checked Sun's site and PersonalJava and JavaPhone seem to be deprecated now...no problem if you have a hardware base deployed and using them, though

    Re: Listing available ports

    I have not a communicator, I own a Motorola a1000 (UIQ 2.1).
    It supports Jython... after I and bpitk from this thread successfully ported it to UIQ platform! :-)

    And as 92xx too support both PersonalJava and Javaphone API, I hope a communicator users can help me!

    Hi cassioli,

    I see now, it's clear, sorry for any mistakes. Have you tried MOTODEV - The Motorola Developer Network? - http://developer.motorola.com/
