    Problem with S60 SDKs 2.*

    Hello.

    I've been successfully using following S60 SDKs: 2.1, 2.3, 3.0 MR and 3.1
Mostly 3.0 MR was used, so it was surprise for me, when I tried to compile 2.* project for ARMI and it failed with dozens of weird errors in e32std.h and e32std.inl. (WINS build worked fine) On both: SDK 2.1 and 2.3

Then I decided to make cleanup:

    1) removed all SDKs (including CSL Toolchain), Carbide.vs, VisualC++ 2003, Perl

    2) removed all Nokia and Symbian folders (C:\Symbian, C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symbian, C:\Nokia and everything related to Symbian/Nokia in C:\Documents and Settings\*);

    3) Installed ActivePerl-5.6.1.638-MSWin32-x86.msi (not 5.8.8 since I was having problems with command-line builds with it)

    4) Installed fresh S60 SDK 2.1 (to default C:\Symbian\7.0s\Series60_v21)

    5) Opened cmd, went to C:\Symbian\7.0s\Series60_v21\Series60Ex\helloworldbasic\group

    6) Tried to build and got exactly the same bunch of errors I was receiving before cleanup:

    Code:
    C:\Symbian\7.0s\Series60_v21\Series60Ex\helloworldbasic\group>bldmake bldfiles

Now, what the heck is that? What could be the problem?

Re: Problem with S60 SDKs 2.*

Try again removing All SDKs, Perl. After that Delete C:/Symbian Folder before reinstalling.

Re: Problem with S60 SDKs 2.*

Have you ever used this SDK? I am asking because Carbide usually requires presence of the CodeWarrior-compatible release of S60 SDK-s, and they usually have a directory ending of _CW.
The problem itself obviously stems in line-endings: line 4071 of e32std.h is the first one that should be concatenated with the previous line (it is a multi-line macro definition in practice), but I cannot suggest anything that may help.

Re-read my post. I removed not only C:\Symbian and C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symbian, but also all Symbian/Nokia related folders (left from Carbide.vs 2.0.1, CSL, other SDKs, etc), and reinstalled Perl and S60 SDK from scratch (No Carbide.vs, No Visual Studio). Doesn't help.

Yes. Used it in VS2003+Carbide.vs - it was compiling just fine.
CodeWarrior is not related at all, because in last case (after major cleanup) I installed only Perl 5.6.1 and S60 SDK 2.1, and tried to compile ARMI UREL build (that is phone build) - that doesn't require any other external tools - just verified on another PC.

    And NO, I don't want to re-install Windows! :)
That kind of Bug must be easy to find, if you know where to search. I, unfortunately, don't.

Thumbs down Re: Problem with S60 SDKs 2.*

    OMG!!!!!

The person, who gave higher priority to find DLLs in \Windows\System32\ instead of local folder (for gcc), must be lynched... SLOWLY!

Guess what? System32 folder contained incompatible (newer!) version of cygwin1.dll! And that was used instead of one in C:\Symbian\7.0s\Series60_v21\Epoc32\gcc\bin\

Spent several hours in Filemon to find that out. ARGH!
Now reinstalling VS2003 and the rest.......
