Symbian Signed, the Freeware path and ACS Publisher Id

    Hello!

After searching and reading symbiansigned.com and the Forums here for hours i still have a question regarding the signing process for the freeware path.

I am programming S60 software for leisure time and the joy of it, but of course i want to present the results of this work to others too. So i have decided to make my current "project" available. It is a screensaver, so it requires some capabilitys and self signing is not really an option. I dont plan to get money for it, so the freeware signing program from symbiansigned.com sounds good.
I just have the problem, that everywhere a so called "ACS Publisher Id" from Verisign is referenced. Acording to the Verisign web site, i have to pay $350 for such a thing.
I understand that with this certificate the signing house can see, that the send sis file orginates from me, but to be honest, i dont want to spend $350 just for fun...

    The question at last:
Did i miss something, or have i really to spend this (for me) large amount of money, just to let others participate on the work i did - for free?

    Yours

Have you actually encountered https://www.symbiansigned.com/app/pa...rview/freeware and https://www.symbiansigned.com/app/pa...w/freewareFaq? Especially focus on https://www.symbiansigned.com/app/pa...isherCertifier. So the Publisher Certifier will sign the app for you, and it also has its own ACS Publisher Id. Thus you do not have to buy one.

Yes, i saw these pages, but i think i miss the "Q. What's a Publisher Certifier?" Answer. If you read it that way, it is quite clear. But you can really get scared if you - for example - read thinks like "Only Applications validly signed with your Publisher ID Certificate will be accepted into Symbian Signed." from "My Symbian Signed"/"Legal"/"T&C" ("Terms and Conditions for Application Developers")...

Thank you very much for giving me some hope
I will try it, and submit the little toy these days.
