InputStream.available() throws IO Exception on 6230

Has anyone heard of the 6230 (most likely, all series 40) throwing an Io Exception when calling available()?

I have a socket connection that works fine when the data comes in 1 chunk, but when there is more than 1 chunk I get this exception. It has only happened on this device, I works on Series 60, Sony Ericsson etc.

Does anyone have an alternative to using available()? The data size is not known.

Re: InputStream.available() throws IO Exception on 6230

As far as I remember, the InputStream's available() method always returns 0 (at least according to API specifications), and should be overridden by subclasses. In case of a subclass it should return the number of bytes that can be read without blocking.
