What SDK should i choose? - Nokia 6630

    Hi,

I’m starting my final Project and I’ve found some doubts:

    Target is Nokia 6630:

Phone based on S60 2nd Edition FP2 (Symbian OS v8.0a).

And Projects which I’ll start from:

SymTorrent: for S60 3rd Edition MR or S60 2nd Edition FP2 SUPPORTING METROWERKS CODEWARRIOR

Other Application: for S60 2nd Edition SUPPORTING METROWERKS CODEWARRIOR (Symbian Os v 7.0s)

    Doubts:

1.- What’s the better/easy solution to put together both applications?
    2.- Could I use the 3rd Edition MR on Nokia 6630? or 2nd Edition FP3 (Symbian v8.1)?
3.- What’s the better IDE for beginners?

    Thanks!

2: No, you cannot use the S60 3rd Ed. SDKs with the 6630. Use the S60 2nd Ed. FP2 SDK.

3: Depends on what you already know. If you don't know any IDEs, then pick the Eclipse based Carbide.c++ as it is probably most "future-proof".

Actually SymTorrent is developed using 2nd ed. FP2 + Visual Studio 6 and 3rd ed. MR + CodeWarrior. However I am not sure if ST is the best replacement of Hello World as a starter application.
6630 is our main test platform for 2nd ed., thus it should work.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the really quick answers

Only say that I would not like starting from SymTorrent but I’ve to do it, anyway I’ll try a bit first with more simple examples.

    Best Regards!!
