    Question to know the encoding type of recorded video file

    HI all,

    If we record a video on N70 (may be .3gp or .mp4) and try to play it on N6680, native player give a pop up that "this file can be played partially" and plays only audio, not video. I know it happens due to codec difference.....the encoding which is being used during recording in N70, N6680 is not getting proper decoder for playing as it is not present in 6680.
    What my requirment is.....i need to get the encoding tupe of video file at run time and to check that is it supported in device. If it is not supported in device , i need to show a pop up for that.

    Could anyone please tell me how to get the encoding type (like s263 or mpv)
    of a video file and to check that is it supported in 6680.

    thanks in advance
    Pankaj

    I think the only way is to try and open it and then handle the error. Something like this:

    Code:
    void CTestVideo::TryOpen()
    {
           iPlayer->OpenFileL(fileName);
    }

    void CTestVideo::MvpuoOpenComplete(TInt aError)
    {
    	if (aError == KErrNotSupported)
    	{
    		// Codec not supported
    	}
    	else if (aError == KErrNone)
    	{
    		// Success
    	}
    	else
    	{
    		// Something else is wrong
    	}
    }
