    country/carrier

    Hi,

    I have an application that needs to know the country where the phone is located, and the carrier who is providing the service.

    TLocale::Countrycode() seems to provide the phone's country code (eg 86 for China), but is there a better way?

    I don't see any way to identify the phone's carrier. Is there a way?

    Max.

    You may get name of operator/carrier but not sure about country name( I think you can't, you will get CountryId only).

    Check out following link from wiki:
    http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...-Synchronously

    N.B: I assume from your previous posts that you are refering to S60 3rd edition.

    Looks great, thanks!

    I am still not 100% certain what I'm needing. Looking at that wiki example, leads me to the CTelephony::GetSubscriberId() function. I wonder if that is really what I want; I assume that the subscriber id won't change if the user starts roaming, while the operator name actually will, right?

    Yes. Subscriber ID (IMSI) is mapped with the Operator. While roaming, you can select other operators which are in colloboration with IMSI's Operator.

    The IMSI consists of three components:
    * Mobile Country Code (MCC)
    * Mobile Network Code (MNC)
    * Mobile Subscriber Identity Number (MSIN)

    So generally Subscriber ID is bound to one Operator only.
