    DRM?

    Hi,

On pre-3rd, if we SMS our content files from phone to phone (or from computer to phone), then the messaging application would play them with our player.

On post-3rd, this no longer happens. The player launches, but it is as if it has been asked to play no content.

I assume this is something to do with DRM; however, we have not added DRM to our content files, so why are they not playing?

I note that our content will play just fine when downloaded from the web using the phone's web browser....

    How can I fix this?

    Max.

On v3 on wards the IPC has been changed may be that be the Problem.

    Can you be more explicit?

Doesn't it just call our player with the file as parameter (argument)?

Look in to "New IPC Mechanisms for Symbian OS" Section in http://developer.symbian.com/main/os...s/advanced.jsp

Although I am not sure what do you mean on "SMS our content files from phone to phone", it might be a difference to the browser-download situation that you do not have direct file-level access to messages on 3rd edition.

I probably should have said 'message' or 'MMS', but I basically meant 'send' by whatever means. I guess they can be sent via bluetooth too...

    That would explain it, yes.

So, is there somewhere that explains how to access the messages on 3rd edition?

Check for MMsvAttachmentManager in the SDK Help. In a nutshell: the Messaging Server opens files for you (since you have no right to do that), and passes you the RFile object.
