    Accessing resources like file system in paused state.

    Hello all,
    I have an app that does file access and socket communication. It's basically downloading a file and writing to the file system as it gets downloaded.
    Now what sort of behavior should I expect in case of an external call during downloading?At the moment my pauseApp() is empty. Will my application be allowed to download and save file in the background? If not, which is the best way to handle such a situation?

    Thanks
    AKS

    Note: background != paused
    On S60 and Series 40 the system does not call pauseApp. On S60 phones the hideNotify of Canvas class is called.

    On most (all?) phones the network communication will stop for the duration of the phone call.

    Thanks hartti,
    But why doesn't it call pauseApp()? It's supposed to, right?
    If pauseApp() is not called and the network commn goes down during a call, how will I ever handle such a situation? I am not using canvas but Forms and Lists.
    Any ideas?

    Ummm.. No.
    As I said: backgroud != paused

    Nowhere in MIDP spec it is stated that when a phone call comes are another application is launched pauseApp has to be called. It may be called, but there is guarantees of that. It depends on the implementation.

    When using forms you could check with isShown if your Form is on the foreground.
