    Reading message using AT command

    Hello every body,

I'm trying to read messages from My mobile phone which is nokia 6020. I use the the AT command with hyper terminal to read and send messages. I use the following AT command to enable receing message indication:

    AT+CNMI=2,1,0,0,1

it works fine, when the phone receives a message, it displays on the hyper terminal window the following response:

    +CMTI: "SM",16

which means that the message was stored on the SIM card, and I can read it using the command:
    AT+CMGR=16

but, if the message was stored on the mobile phone memory( I found out that from the following response):

    +CMTI: "ME",44

the read command (AT+CMGR=44) returns the following response:

    +CMS ERROR: 321

which meanse "memory inex out of boundary".

I examined the range for "SM" memory and found that it can store up to 30 records.

Can any body help me to read the messages that are stored in the "ME" when the following response is received:

    +CMTI: "ME",44

thanx in advance for any help.

Re: Reading message using AT command

if you want to read SMS from the phone memory use the following commands:

    AT+CPMS="ME" (OR "SM")
    AT+CMGR=16

now you can read SMS from phone memory

Hi, I am using 6233. I got error when typing +cmgl and +cmgr <enter>. Other commands are okay including sending sms. Is there any specific command before I can use "read" commands? or anything I missed? Please help.

I have the the same problem with my Nokia 6233.
The answer is: you cannot use any SMS AT commands for reading sms messages for your phone. This is by design.
