Thumbs down Certificate was issued by an unrecognized Entity

    O.S. XP
    IDE: Eclipse 3.2.2
    CarbideJ 1.5
    Emulator: Prototype_4_O_s60_MDIP_EMULATOR

    Hi,

I'm a web developer in Dublin, Ireland playing around with J2ME and I am trying to use the above emulator to debug a midlet I'm building in CarbideJ.
All was going fine until I needed to make a HTTPS POST request to a server with an unknown certificate.

Now on my S60 phone I am prompted to install the server cert and that works fine and I can continue but on the emulator I get no such prompt. Instead I get the dreaded error:

javax.microedition.pki.CertificateException: Certificate was issued by an unrecognized entity

Basically I'm wondering is there a way I can install the certificate for the emulator. I have spent the morning looking through posts both here and on the Sun forum but can't seem to find any specific information regarding my particular setup as detailed above.

I'm pretty stumped so if anyone has any ideas on this I would love to hear them as the thought of having to debug with my phone doesn't fill me with pleasure.

Hmmmm, doesn't seem to be much of a response to this.

I guess I'll just have to use a proxy server - maybe using the server side xmlhttp object in asp possibly to forward on the requests and grab the responses.

In any case I'll keep an eye on this thread to see if anyone has any other solutions to this.

Re: Certificate was issued by an unrecognized Entity

    Hi

    I have same problem

I am creating an application in Eclipse to translate text from english to french using googleAPI . I am passing the url in this format
    url="https://www.googleapis.com/language/translate/v2?key&q=Hello&source=en&target=fr";
    I am using HttpConnection

I am getting this error :
certificate was issued by an unrecognized entity

I read all other forums and tried to invoke GoogleAPi in SDK3.0 but still same error comes.
All the forums are saying that it is due to emulator and this is the really case. when i deploy app in phone it works fine.

Can any body tell how to solve this problem so it doesnot give this error in emulator?
