Playing MIDI events / MIDI files in Symbian C++ on S60

    Hello,

I tried to find documentation on how to play MIDI files or just single MIDI events in Symbian C++ on S60. I couldn't find anything useful except for a class CMDAAudioToneUtility but it's a private class and only supposed to be used internally.
    Can anyone help me please?
I have to write my program in C++, I cannot use JAVA.

    Thanks

Sorry forget this post, I found what I was looking for...

CMdaAudio* classes are public API-s indeed, and they are well documented in all S60 SDK-s. For example I would try passing a midi file to CMdaAudioPlayerUtility::NewFilePlayerL.

    Hello,
    thanks for your reply.
However what I need is to be able to play a single note on a key-press.
I tried using the CMidiClientUtility's function playNoteL().
The wierd thing is that it doesn't produce any sound.
I also tried playing a MIDI file with CMidiClientUtility which work allright.
So apparently there is something wrong with the playNoteL function.
Other people have reported this behaviour too...

You have to set the assign a instrument to a channel, and then set the volume of the channel. More details here: {{removed}}. Cheers.

Thanks for the link, I will pass it on to Jo Stichbury, maybe she will enjoy reading her book on a Russian site (I doubt it though).
