    How to begin with SDK?

I am absolutely inexperienced, as soon as I have verified that Java Run-Time and ActivePerl are installed, and I installed S60_CPP_SDK_3rd_FP1; I already use like IDE Borland C++Builder 2006 of the Developer Studio Update 2. After installed the SDK, when I verify in command prompt if the installation has been successful, the result of execute the commando bldmake bldfiles is:

    C:\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\S60Ex\HelloWorldBasic\group>abld build
    make -r -f "\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\EPOC32\BUILD\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1
    \S60Ex\HelloWorldBasic\group\EXPORT.make" EXPORT VERBOSE=-s
    Nothing to do

In addition, in the emulator is not seen “Hello World BASIC” in the folder “installed”. Somebody can explain to me so that it does not work?

Also I need to know how I can develop with C++Builder 2006 Update 2? in the installation guide of the SDK they mention only CodeWarrior.

Re: How to begin with SDK?

The S60 3rd Ed. SDKs support MS Visual Studio 2003 with Carbide.vs.

Otherwise you have to use CodeWarrior 3.1 or the Eclipse based Carbide.c++

There is no support for Borland C++ Builder any longer (there was, several years ago.

    Some "getting started" links here:

Consider also getting a book like this one:

I'm also totally inexperienced. I'm working with Carbide per Nokia's recommendation. After installing and attempting to launch Hello World Basic, I got the same Nothing to Do Message, and I also don't see a Hello World among my applications. Command prompt feedback is below. I'm grateful for any advice.

    C:\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\S60Ex\HelloWorldBasic\group>bldmake bldfiles

    C:\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\S60Ex\HelloWorldBasic\group>abld build
    make -r -f "\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\EPOC32\BUILD\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\S60
    Ex\HelloWorldBasic\group\EXPORT.make" EXPORT VERBOSE=-s
    Nothing to do

    C:\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\S60Ex\HelloWorldBasic\group>epoc

What about applications from other sdks like second edition FP2. Note that you should install SDK and Carbide in the same drive of your computer.

As you said you are working with Carbide, you may find option to create a new application. You can directly build from IDE.
I hope you are done with installing JRE, Active perl etc...

Please go through these wiki articles:

Re: How to begin with SDK?

Thanks for the very useful links. All these pieces are new to me (Carbide, Java, Perl, Symbian, S60, the emulator), and I'm just starting to see how they fit together.

Carbide modified my path during installation, but additional path and env var settings were required. Everything worked as documented once I ran this: "C:\Program Files\Nokia\Carbide.c++ v1.2\configuration\run_env_update.bat".
