    'Applet' or 'SecureCard'?

    Hello,

    I am trying to make run some samples of applications which inherit from 'javacard.framework.Applet' in the emulator of the Nokia 6131 NFC SDK 1.0 creating a new External SecureCard and selecting the abslote path where .class files are, but the loader does not take care about these files. In other hand, if I create .class files inherit from 'com.nokia.phone.sdk.concept.srv.modules.nfc.cards.SecureCard', the emulator loader detects these classes. So, my question is: if I want to develop Java applications for secure cards, should I develop them inheriting from 'com.nokia.phone.sdk.concept.srv.modules.nfc.cards.SecureCard' or is there any way in order to load 'javacard.framework.Applet' inheriting applications?

    Thanks!

    Re: 'Applet' or 'SecureCard'?

    I've the same interrogations about developing applications on a javacard.
    Is a program inheriting from 'com.nokia.phone.sdk.concept.srv.modules.nfc.cards.SecureCard' is a javacard application and if so, how can install it onto a javacard ?
    Is it better to develop an application inheriting from Applet or SecureCard ?

    Thx, Regards

    Creating a class inherited from 'com.nokia.phone.sdk.concept.srv.modules.nfc.cards.SecureCard' allows
    you to write a simulated smart card. I.e. you can write a small program that
    can echange APDU messages with your midlet in the emulator. When creating a real applet that runs in the smart card you need to use javacard framework.

    Cool Re: 'Applet' or 'SecureCard'?

    Okay thanks for information.
    Considering this mechanism, if I want to create a real applet that runs in the smart card and send APDU commands to my applet, which kind of connection have I to use ?
    ISO14443 and the method exchangeData enables APDU commands to an applet which inherits SecureCard (through a midlet) but is this connection still available with an Applet inheriting from javacard framework ?
    If not, what's the solution to send APDU commands through a midlet ?!

    Thx, regards!

    Red face Re: 'Applet' or 'SecureCard'?

    As far as I know, methods are the same.

    String uri = System.getProperty("internal.se.url");
    ISO14443Connection conn = (ISO14443Connection) Connector.open(uri);

    and

    conn.exchangeData(SELECT);

    SELECT is your APDU command in byte[]
    You first have to SELECT your Applet and then you will be able to interact with it with other APDU commands. Check also http://www.ttfn.net/techno/smartcards/iso7816_4.html

    okay thx tdelazzari!
    I was just wondering if the kind of connection was the same in a real applet.

    bye

    I suggest you do a Forum Nokia search, you'll find examples in the wiki and other discussions and articles that may help.
    http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...d_for_Emulator example links to a project as well.

    Hope this helps,

    Ron
