    "Unable to install" error

    I've implemented an application and it runs without problem in the emulator. Now I want to install it into a real device.

    First, I obtained a UID in the protected range from symbiansigned.com: 0x2000BAEF

    Second, I obtained a certificate also from symbiansigned.com.

    I created and signed the sis file successfully. However, when I tried to install it in my Nokia 5500, the progress bar reached 99% and then generated an error "Unable to install".

    Below is my .pkg file:
    Code:
    ; MyProject.pkg
    ;
    ;Language - standard language definitions
    &EN

    ;Standard SIS file header
    #{"MyProject"},(0x2000BAEF),1,0,0

    ;Localised Vendor name
    %{"MyProject"}

    ;Unique Vendor name
    :"MyProject"

    ;Supports Series 60 v 3.0
    [0x101F7961], 0, 0, 0, {"Series60ProductID"}

    ;Files to install
    "C:\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\Epoc32\release\winscw\udeb\MyProject.exe"                 -"!:\sys\bin\MyProject.exe"
    "C:\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\Epoc32\release\winscw\udeb\z\resource\apps\MyProject.rsc"               -"!:\resource\apps\MyProject.rsc"
    "C:\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\Epoc32\release\winscw\udeb\z\resource\apps\MyProject_reg.mif"               -"!:\resource\apps\MyProject_reg.mif"
    "C:\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\Epoc32\release\winscw\udeb\z\private\10003a3f\apps\MyProject_reg.rsc"   -"!:\private\10003a3f\import\apps\MyProject_reg.rsc"
    I've read the blog http://blogs.forum.nokia.com/view_entry.html?id=93 but it doesnt help much.

    Please help. Thank you.

    see the following link:

    but i question did you compile it in GCCE UREL?
    you are copy files from release\winscw\udeb this is for window mode only.
    Use [URL="http://qt.nokia.com/products/qt-quick/"]Qt-Quick[/URL] to make your application UI more attractive.

    Re: "Unable to install" error

    Thank you very much. You're right, I was wrong when using the Wincsw build. After I compile it in GCCE, I can install it. However, I got another problem: the application does not appear in my menu and I could not find it anywhere else.

    There's probably a problem with your mif or _reg.rsc file then.

    Thank you. I worked out the problem. I put the _reg.rsc in a wrong folder in the mobile.

    Smile Re: "Unable to install" error

    "Unable to Install" Error can occur on the device if the exe uploaded in the .pkg file is not built for the device.

    In the .pkg file...
    1)Check whether exe file is from \epoc32\release\gcce\urel\yourapp.exe
    2)To Generalize...use $(EPOCROOT)EPOC32\release\$(PLATFORM)\$(TARGET)\yourapp.exe

    In the latter case (case 2), everytime you build your application, the appropriate exe is uploaded in pkg file to create the installation sis/sisx file.

    Hope it Helps.....
