How to initiate a Network Request?

    Hi all,

I can check my account balance through Network Request by dialing *100#. The Network operator will then notify me through a Service reply which look something like this: "You've $0.38 USD,valid till 10/08/2008".

    My questions are:
1.How to initiate a Network Request?
I've tried using PlatformRequest("tel:*100#"); but it ends up as normal call not network request.

2.How do I access the text of the service reply?

    Hi kruyvanna,

Which operator are you talking about? Besides, which service?

AFAIK you cannot achieve that by using the platformRequest method and the behavior you are getting is the expected one.

    Kind regards,

Re: How to initiate a Network Request?

    Hi Juarez,

My operator is Hello GSM in Cambodia.
It's a service that i can use to check my account balance.
I don't know how to call that service.

when i dial *100#, the phone displays "Requesting" then
    "Service Reply
    You've $0.38,valid till 10/08/2008"

I don't know how to dial it from MidLet.

My purpose is to copy the string in "Service Reply
    You've $0.38,valid till 10/08/2008"

and store it in the database.

I wonder if the following technique is possible:
I dial *100# from the phone and use MidLet to access the display of "Service Reply."

Re: How to initiate a Network Request?

    Hi kruyvanna,

You cannot access the service reply from the MIDlet and you cannot use tha platformRequest to do the serviuce request.
So what you are trying to do with JavaME is impossible. Unfortunately.

kruyvanna, please ask this on Symbian C++ boards, you will get more correct answers that way (unfortunately I am not familiar enough with Symbian C++ programming)
