Re: N82 Drivers Source Codes

Hi,
No, drivers source code is not public.
You need to be a symbian platinum partner requiring dev kit, and BAK licence, check on www.symbian.com.

If it is free and open source, just go to their site and download it.

It is just an announcement for now. It will take time to get into existence. And what things would be free and open source, one cannot predict now.

Honestly don't people read press releases.

Try looking at http://www.symbianfoundation.org

"The foundation is expected to start operating during the first half of 2009. Membership of the foundation will be open to all organizations, for a low annual membership fee of US $1,500."

"... it will commit to moving the platform to open source during the next two years, with the intent to use the Eclipse Public License."

I'm not sure what you plan to do with the drivers, I have noticed a trend now that the firmware will only be updatable via FOTA so putting a new patched ROM on the device is not going to happen anytime soon I'm afraid.
Download Symbian OS now! http://developer.symbian.org

Re: N82 Drivers Source Codes

Symbian is not yet free and open source. Symbian Foundation hasn't even started yet. From the web page ( http://www.symbianfoundation.org ): "The foundation is expected to start operating during the first half of 2009." The press releases from the site also say: "The foundation will work to make the platform available in open source by June 2010".

So, you have to wait for a while for the source code.

And even if the operating system will eventually be free and open source, hardware specific device drivers might still not be.

We want to develop Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM for N82 base on N82 drivers source code.
Nokia N82 specs is very similar to HTC S730.
