Carbide wont start an app in the emu

    Hi,

I just wanted to start developing for Symbian and I just tried to build and run the HelloWorld included in the SDK. The problem is when I try to run the app the emulator is launched but it doesn't show me the app and boots directly to the main menu (or desk or whatever this screen is called). It seems as if the app isnt passed to the emu.

Because when I start the program by double clicking on the .exe the emu behaves as it should.

How can I fix this problem?

    thx Simon

    Hello Simon,

You can try newer carbide version. i.e: Carbide.c++ v1.2.

Also go through the screen cast of Carbide: Carbide Screencast

Alternatively, if you have successfully build your application for WINSCW (emulator), you can call it from command prompt using "epoc" command.
You may find your application in the "Installations" folder on emulator.

I hope this will help you.

I'm using the express edition and AFAIK the newest version is the 1.1. And as I said I can start the app in the emu by simply double clicking on the .exe in the according folder. Only Carbide seems not to hand the .exe over to the emu when I start it via the "Run" Button.

Sometimes you might consider clicking on the links provided by other people...
And your program can be found under the Installat. icon (I assume that you have a 3rd edition SDK, although you have forgotten to mention somehow).
