    Smile Hiding the application

    Hi,
I am developing an application for s60 3rd edition.Application/icon of the application will not be visible to user after complete installation. After rebooting the phone the application will starts and appear on the desktop.

Is there any problem to send it for symbian signing?

    Thanks

I don't think there should be any problem with Symbian Signing.

I think you need to convince them why you actualy need such a strange behaviour for your application.

As well as if you want to put it in to the main menu by yourself, you need to contact your BDM for help, (hint it requires ALLFILES capability).

    Re: Hiding the application

    Hi Yucca,
    Thanks for the reply!
Plz let me clear one thing, the application I am going to hide to completely after installation.User will not get any icon.He will only come to know that the application is installed, when he will reboot the phone and he will get the application on the screen.
This is the basic functionality of the application I want.
So is it ok for signing?

    Thanks

    Re: Hiding the application

Not sure if it is possible too easily, basically if it is completely hidden after installation, and then changes to be non-hidden (firstly is does not make any sence to me to make it this way, thus could you tell me why it needs to do this), you are required to chnage the registration information, which would mean that you need to change content in recourse folder, for which you need manufacturer capabilities.

Secondly, if you really need to have it on the main menu, you need to ask your Nokia-Pro BDM to give you help on doing it, you can not do it without them providing you help on accessing the dat file to move the icon to the main menu

(Note, that I have not been given this information by any person, I have gained the knowledge through investigating sis files and the behaviour in the emulator, thus I should not be under NDA on this issue, if I'm wrong, then I wish to be corrected)

    Hi ,
    Thanks for the reply.
Here is the steps to install my application.

    1. Install the sis (By default it will get install on Phone Mem.)
    2 Reboot the Phone.
    3. Application will appear on the screen.
    4. Register it using the registration key.
    5. Fill the information.
    6. After filling the information it will navigate in background.

User can check it through the Task List weather it is running in background or not.

So will it works for signing

    Thanks

    Re: Hiding the application

    1. unless you have good reason (and it has to make sence to symbian signed team as well), you have to provide method on installing it to any location.

and what will happen if they do not register it ?

Basically just read the symbian signed test criteria and see what it says, might give you teh best idea what you should do and how...
