    Phonebook access

    Hello

I would like to have access to the phonebook of my Nokia N95 with Symbian 3rd FP1 on board.
I read somewhere on the forum that access to SIM phonebook is not possible. Is that true??
Can I then copy all contacts to the phone memory and access them there?? If so, how can I achieve that??

I would like to add new contacts, modify existing ones and delete them from the database.

Can anyone give me any suggestions how can I start to deal with that?? I would be very appreciate for help
Maybe there is a example code which I missed during my investigation.

    Best Regards

don't have any examples, but you could maybe look inot SDK docs on CIdleFinder & CPbkIdleFinder classes.

Don't You know any article about architecture of this database?? I'm actually confused about its structure. I don't know which filed I should use if I only want to add contacts with name and phone number filed. I would like to read them and also remove.

Maybe it would be nice to have them in the special created group.

What is Your opinion? Is it better to use CPbkContactEngine or CContactDatabase for such a purpose??

    Re: Phonebook access

CContactDatabase is generally a bit harder to use, but you can use it with less capabilities, thus it can be used with self-signed applications as well.

then again, CPbkContactEngine is in general easier to use, but requires Read/Write device data capabilities, thus you would need to use developer certificate for development time as well as get it symbian signed when it is ready.

    Re: Phonebook access

Ok, I actually use both classes. One for using the dialog menu to choose contact and pass values into my application. This is a way visible for the user.

I made also piece of code which goes through contacts database inside my application. I can ready and delete entries.

Here are two example codes which I used:

Symbianyucca could You take a look into this thread?
