    RConnectionMonitor gives Feature not supported

    Hi Forum Nokia

I want to use RConnectionMonitor to retrieve the IAP ID of a connection. But it gives me a message Feature not supported?

Why is this happening? And is there a way to find IAP Id of a connection?

    - Did you add the necessary Capabilities?
    - Did you try it on the device?

Re: RConnectionMonitor gives Feature not supported

Thanks for the quick response Vin

Yes I've realized RConnectionMonitor needs a capability named NetworkControl.

Hmm.. so I cant use a developer ceritificate to test the code right? This capability only available to the non- devcert right?

In Symbian we can always have one more question

Re: RConnectionMonitor gives Feature not supported

    Hi,

you probably will not need NetworkControl capability - it's necessary only for some sorts of calls. It is something, which you probably will not need for your application. In the case you will find it is really necessary - be aware that NetworkControl capability is from category "Platform-approved capabilities", so the Nokia approval for use such API will be necessary.

For normal use of the RConnectionMonitor class those capabilities should be enough:

    NetworkServices ReadDeviceData ReadUserData

    Best regards,
    Petr

Unfortunately it's coming under Platform-approved capabilities. Hope this link from FN.Wiki may be helpful: Sensitive Applications.

Re: RConnectionMonitor gives Feature not supported

I also had the same problem with this RConnectionMonitor.
I am using 2nd Edition FP3. So, I think this is not the matter of Capability.
I also tried to get IAP id. But returned "not supported".
Getting some other information, like signal strength, network status, worked correctly. I just tried to get IAP id as I did for other info, but only this one faied.

Has anyone succeeded to get IAP id by this method? Or is there any other workaround?

    Hi,

I think that we when event EConnMonNetworkStatusChange occurs it is not possible to get IAP ID, but you cen get it when EConnMonCreateConnection occurs!!
