OK, obviously not of bigger interest for this forum. I've removed the published version from the server. Whoever is interested in getting the stuff - pls. drop me a note. Sorry for the annoyance...

    Hey neil.young!

The forum is pretty quiet at the moment, I bet you'll get more answers reposting it in September when everybody is back to work

    Cheers,

I'll be on vacation in Sept

Sorry, but I'm a bit disappointed about the poor resonance, can't fight it.

Regards and thanks for the answer.

    Don't be discouraged, neil.young!

As I said it's a deep month and most of the guys hanging around on the forum are doing that as holiday summer hobby, or that's the feeling I've had (no offense to anybody).

It will be crowded in October when you finish your holidays

So keep on the good work and keep sharing your knowledge, cause by helping the other you are learning and helping yourself at the same time

Re: [announce] Google Directions via PyS60

That's the kinda response I was keen to see Thanks for encouraging me.

OK, I'll refresh the link and topic #1, because I'd moved further meanwhile. I managed to control the tiles API (not included in the current sources yet, but will come) in order to get maps for the specific waypoints. Currently I'm struggling with the polyline stuff (the route overlay).

Probably one of the admins is able to remove the OT discussion between #1 and the current topic

    Regards

    Hi,

    thanks for the comment.

I have been trying to set another language (english) but it doesn't work (gl='en' and hl='en' )
You are on the right track. This should give you english directions. But it will not change the programs default language (by now). But it shouldn't be _that_ difficult to find the 1,2,3 german phrases I used and translate it to english. I'll assist you if you like.

As for v.1.1 the lines to change are:

    327,328: change "de" into "en"
359: change "Weiter für" into "Proceed for"
370: change "Leider keine..." into "Unfortunately no route. Error %s"
    373: see 370
    375: change "Fehler" into "Error"
381: change "Programm beenden?" into "Exit program?"
    412: change "Von %s nach %s\n\n" into "From %s to %s\n\n"
    415: change "Dauer: %s\n" into "Duration: %s\n"
    416: change "Entfernung: %s\n" into "Distance: %s\n"
421: change "\nWeiter mit Rechtspfeil" into "\nPress right arrow"
    449: change "Wegpunkt" into "Waypoint"
462: change "Ziel erreicht" into "Destination reached"
465: change "Sie haben Ihr Ziel in %s erreicht" into "You have reached your destination in %s"
    468: change "Ziel" into "Destination"
470: change "Zurück" into "Back" and "Route löschen" into "Delete route"
482: change "Route ermitteln" into "Determine route"
491: change "Startaddresse" into "Start address"
493: change "Zieladresse" into "Destination address"
503: change "Bitte haben Sie etwas Geduld" into "Please be patient"
506: change "Die Route..." into "The route is downloaded from the Internet. The connection will be closed, when the route is presented"

This is definitely something to be put into a lookup table, but it wasn't on top of my list for now. I'll do it in one of the following versions.

required feature for gdirs 1.2 : choose WLAN access point by default ...
The script uses the default ap currently. If the systems default ap is your WiFi access, it should use it. Please double check this.

This could be better done in an one time selection dialog in order to identify the ap to be used, but needs an additional configuration dialog...On the list

Re: [announce] Google Directions via PyS60

As far as I understood googlemaps, the key is linked to a certain website.
If I need to insert it in Python, which website do I have to insert at google for the generation of the key?

I have another question: How can I choose between WLAN and standard network (GSM/UMTS)?

    Thx, ueffchen

Yes, you are right, the key is bound to a website but does also work outside of it, technically. For the future it would be better that I would aqcuire a generic key from Google (together with the rights to do this) and put it directly into the code, w/o need to modify it at all. Until then you are on your own, so give Google a URL under your control.

    Code:
I have another question: How can I choose between WLAN and standard network (GSM/UMTS)?
My primary target was to get rid of the annoying interface question. If you drop the 3 lines dealing with apo in the constructor/destructor of GDirections, you'll get the choice box again.
