    Question symbain signing Failed

My application takes longtime to startup for the first time, as we are initializing the filesystem.

But during this time, when we try to switch between the applications, my application is exiting (or not sure crashing).

Could you please provide whether any events/message passed by the system which the application needs to handle it. But I have seen one of the reply where we need to handle HandleForegroundEventL. But since my app is busy in creating the filesystem and it is a blocking call, I am not getting any events/messages. So is there a way I can receive these events/messages.

becoz of this the testcase GEN-02 of symbain signing failed for me. Can I know how i can proceed with this.

    with regards

    Re: symbain signing Failed

You can do all the long-running initialization in a separate thread if it is acceptable for you.

    ivey,

    thank u for ur reply.
but i cant have one more thread, and usage of thread just to initialize data i think too costly and also not a gud practice.

i welcome any other ideas forum members.

can you tell me more. if you are creating your File / resource structure then i suggest

    1. Create the Files at the time of SIS creation and bundle with SIS File.
    OR
    2. Create a Exe File that will run at the time of install and create the req. filesystem..

in both the cases your installation time will increase but not the start time of the application

Divide the task into smaller parts, and execute those from CIdle callbacks. That way you won't block the whole app and can take care of the events. Then you can also easily add a progress bar or some other feedback to the user.
