    N95 Camera issue

    Hi:

    I am using the Camera example (S60_Platform_Camera_Example_with_AutoFocus_Support_v2_1_en.zip)for my application. the example runs fine on N95, but when I embed this software in my application, it gives me the following information when I try to access the camera:

    unable to execute file for security reason:

    this is my setting in the mmp file

    TARGET OcrExample.exe
    TARGETTYPE exe
    UID 0x0 0xA00001F3
    VENDORID 0x0
    //EPOCSTACKSIZE 0x5000
    //EPOCHEAPSIZE 0x5000

    CAPABILITY UserEnvironment // SwEvent required to capture
    // events from camera shutter key

    START RESOURCE OcrExample.rss
    HEADER
    TARGETPATH resource\apps
    END

    START RESOURCE OcrExample_reg.rss
    #ifdef WINSCW
    TARGETPATH \private\10003a3f\apps
    #else
    TARGETPATH \private\10003a3f\import\apps
    #endif
    END

    #ifdef WINSCW

    LIBRARY CamAutoFocus.lib

    #else

    STATICLIBRARY CamAutoFocus_s.lib
    #endif

    LANG SC

    and this is the MMP file i got from the camera example

    TARGET CameraApp.exe
    TARGETTYPE exe
    UID 0x100039CE 0xE01FF1D8

    SECUREID 0xE01FF1D8

    TARGETPATH \resource\apps
    END // RESOURCE

    START RESOURCE CameraApp_reg.rss
    TARGETPATH \private\10003a3f\apps
    END // RESOURCE

    USERINCLUDE . ..\inc

    #ifdef WINSCW

    LIBRARY CamAutoFocus.lib

    #else

    STATICLIBRARY CamAutoFocus_s.lib

    #endif

    // End of file

    the different is that in the camera example, it specifies the security id (identical to the UID3), also know that it specify the UID3 as 0xExxxxxxxx, while my application starts with 0x1xxxxxxxxxxx...is this the reason I get the security check fail?
    what can I do to remove this security check? I try to apply for the Symbian signed key, but it seems to be no response

    Thank you very much for your answering

    for the following capability symbian signing or developer certificate is not mandatory

    LocalServices
    ReadUserData
    WriteUserData
    UserEnvironment
    NetworkServices
    Location
    Use [URL="http://qt.nokia.com/products/qt-quick/"]Qt-Quick[/URL] to make your application UI more attractive.

    The problem is that I uses the UserEnvironment but it gives me the stated error (secuirity reasons)....do you have any hint on this or any solution to this?

    you need a developer certificate to have SwEvent granted for your application.Self-signing isn't enough

    Re: N95 Camera issue

    any other solution?

    according to the document,

    2.20 What certifications do the capabilities require?
    The capabilities that require Symbian Signed are listed below (for capabilities marked with an asterisk Symbian Signed certification is preferred but not mandatory, as the user can grant the capability at the installation time):
    Version 2.0 | April 13, 2006

    Re: N95 Camera issue

    does that mean if I don't handle any HandleKeyEventL(const TKeyEvent& aKeyEvent, TEventCode aType) (i.e. always return EKeyWasNotConsumed), then I am ok to use the camera without using the Symbian signed certification?

    It is not that hard to read: SwEvent required to capture events from camera shutter key. Camera shutter key is the camera shutter key, you might consider living without it as a first try.
    Related portions of code:

    iCameraKeyHandle = iCoeEnv->RootWin().CaptureKey( EKeyCameraShutter, 0, 0 );

    }
    If you can live with pressing the OK key instead of the dedicated shutter key, you do not need SwEvent capability, and self-signing is enough (UserEnvironment is user grantable).
    If the application refuses to run, you might want to comment the CaptureKey-line. However it should fail silently, I think.

    On S60 Symbian Signing or a developer certificate is compulsory for Location. It seems to be this that has brought the Symbian Signed web site to its knees since the launch of the N95 with many people trying to get developer certificates to sign pirated location-using applications.

    Switch to threaded mode to display the posts and you'll see my reply was to a post earlier in this discussion, not to your question about resolution. I quoted the earlier reply too.
