Unhappy Can't start MWS in SDK emulator

Hi - I have installed "S60 3RD EDITION SDK FOR SYMBIAN OS, FOR C++ (14.06.2006)
MAINTENANCE RELEASE" and the Mobile Web Server plugin. The MWS icon shows under "Installations" and can the application itself can be started.

I have the following two issues:
1.) The wizzard does only asks for the user name and password - but not for the Winsock APN. My assumption is that the MWS configuration is not completed which may be the cause for the following issue 2.)

2.) When I try to start the web server from the options menue - it never really starts, independent whether I choose the Internet or local option.

The file Epoc32\winscw\c\data\Web server\logs\error looks like this:

    [Wed Sep 19 07:39:07 2007] [warn] (88)Function not implemented: apr_socket_opt_set: (TCP_NODELAY)
(22)Invalid argument: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80
No listening sockets available, shutting down.
    Configuration Failed

    Any suggestions?

    Kind regards,

That warning can be ignored and is not related to the problem.

Do you have a web-server running on your PC that already is using port 80? Namely, the emulator uses the network stack of the PC so if you have a web-server on the PC, then the web-server in your emulator will not start.

You can change the port used by MWS in the file conf/httpd.conf but if you do that, I'm not sure whether it will be possible to browse to it over the gateway. Browsing directly using the PC's browser should work.

Re: Can't start MWS in SDK emulator

This response helped me to fix the problem. Actually it was not a web server preventing MWS to run but Skype, which was stealing port 80. A really tricky issue - but now that is fixed. Here is how you disable Sykpe port 80 listening:

    Thanks a lot!
