    Angry Debug launched file

    Hi everyone,

I've trying for many days now to find a way to debug my application when it's launched with the File Manager.

I have written a recognizer for some file types I can handle and this part works. So in the file manager when I click on such a file it launches my application. But at some point after the launch (I can see my icon and the softkey menu appearing) it says "feature not supported". I'm sure I don't use any special feature here and the application works fine when started by itself.

I can debug in the emulator with the UIQ 3 SDK since it has a file manager. But I can't do it with s60 since I don't see any file manager in any SDK. And I can't use the on-device debugging since it only seems to be usable when launching the application to debug. And if my app is started the File Manager just switches to my app and the open command is never passed (let alone the OpenFileL call).

So I need help on either of these aspects:
    - what is this mystery Feature that I seem to be missing ?
    - is there a way to debug on the device when being launched by another app ?

PS: UIQ3 doesn't work but it seems to be due to bad handling of views, that I don't use in s60.

Strange. Have you checked "Organiser/File mgr." (3rd edition) or "Configura.../File Mana..." (2nd edition)?

Bingo, It's there! I never thought of looking there, since that's not where it is in my N80.

Thanks for the tip. Hopefully I will get the same issues in the emulator.

    Re: Debug launched file

So I managed to debug with the emulator. It does the same as on the device. And still no indication of the real issue apart from the "Feature Not Supported (-5)". I thought it would be something with the embeddable state. But I've read here that launching an app to use a file doesn't launch it as embedded.

The last thing I can see in the application when it fails is a call to ProcessCommandParametersL() with the filename to open and it returns ETrue.

Here is a log of the app when it starts correctly

    Code:

I am new to Symbian. We have project done in S60 3rd edition. What actually happended i was able to build the project and run in emulator. made some modifications and now i have problem. I am using command prompt for this and doing so i have the build output as. (Take a look at Bold sentence below)
