    Project Template

    Hi
    I new with Symbian C++.
    I'm using VS.net 2003 + Carbide.vs + s60 3rd SDK to create a Symbian C++ application.
    There's a list of project templates called MIME type recognizer, GUI/DLL, GUI/LIB, HELLO WORLD application and View application.
    What are their special function for each of them?

    will all these templates give me .sis?

    I'm trying to create an application to connect to MySQL localhost to display records and run .swf files. Which template will be the suitable choice?

    thx

    You might consider generating all types of supported projects, just to see which is which, and what they are doing.
    Be prepared to have some work with MySQL, I am not sure if it supports Symbian.

    I would doubt that.
    What do you exactly need? Is it going to be a client-server application where the phone is the client and a PC is a server? Is it going to be a phone-only application where there are .swf files on the phone, and your application provides some kind of a menu to select one of them?

    yes, the phone is the client and the pc is the server.
    The phone will have the .sis application.

    Let me tell you what does my database has:
    a flash name and the flash path (where the flash is stored).

    I want the .sis application to allow to display the flash name which is available in the database. when the user select the flash he/she wants to view... then the application will stream the flash (.swf) to the phone to be viewed. The flash has interactive buttons example zoom in and out.

    Do you think is it possible to accomplish this? What kind of database do you recommend me to use successfully accomplish this?

    Although it should be possible to write a specific or even a generic ODBC driver for Symbian, I would rather create a simple PC-side code for doing the actual DB-operations.
    Then the PC-side code could be reached via some proprietary TCP-based protocoll.
