    UID3 Symbian Signed Problem

    Dear all
I'm preparing my application for Symbian Signed process. It is working on Series 60 3rd Edition v9

I found one of the Symbian Signed criteria says:
    My Pkg file should contains

    ""-"!:\private\<Application UID3/SID>\AppName.ini"

    My Application name is MyApp
    My UID is 0xee9b24b9

So I checked the path !:\private\ee9b24b9\\AppName.ini and I didn't find the file AppName.ini file

Also I checked the path !:\private\ee9b24b9\\MyApp.ini and I didn't find that ini file

How come? How can I solve this problem to pass Symbian Signed process?

    Thanks

Is this question about PKG-04 ???
If so, please read that page first. What you have quoted is incorrect and incomplete at the same time. And it is a "best practice", not a requirement.
The requirement is about removing your runtime created files on uninstall. The .ini file is only an example.

Wizard_hu_ is apparently right. Does your application leave any file after uninstalltion? Anyways read the page thoroughly and carefully as Wizard_hu_ says.

And moreover, i hope you have read the following paragraphs from SDK help.

    Following is from SDK help:
When an application is to be Symbian Signed (either during development using a Developer Certificate or via the Symbian Signed program) it must use a UID from the protected range. Specifically, the 0 range (0x00000000 to 0x0FFFFFFF) has been reserved for development purposes, and new UID allocations are made from the 2 range (0x20000000 to 0x2FFFFFFF). Before being submitted for Symbian Signed testing, an application must have a UID allocated from the 2 range.

When an application is self-signed it must use a UID from the unprotected range. Specifically, the E range (0xE0000000 to 0xEFFFFFFF) has been reserved for development purposes, and new UID allocations are made from the A range (0xA0000000 to 0xAFFFFFFF). Before being released to end users, a self-signed application must have a UID allocated from the A range.

    Re: UID3 Symbian Signed Problem

    Thanks for your reply

My application doesn't leave any files after uninstall.

But in Symbian Signed test cases document "Symbian_Signed_Test_Criteria_2_11_0.pdf" and at Pkg-04 it instruct me that my application pkg file should contain the line
    ""-"!:\private\<Application UID3/SID>\AppName.ini", FN

I tried to check the existence of that file using BafUtils but I remembered that BafUtils doesn't work with protected system folders like private folder

So Now I put that line in My application Pkg file but I just ask if it is right like that or I miss something

    Thanks again

The FileNull (FN) option is not supported, anyway, private folder content is deleted during uninstallation, thus you can safely remove the line from the pkg.

Are you sure it is removed automatically because In Symbian Signed Test cases document it says that in v9 it doesn't remove automatically and I have to remove it myself in pkg file

AFAIK, files stored in your application's private directory will be removed during un-installation.
