Nokia 5300 automatically add the "t=xxxxx" parameter into the query string

    Hi all,

We developed a web site with web pages that renders xhtml. We are trying to use Nokia 5300 mobile phone to test our web pages, but we found sometimes the Nokia 5300 will automatically add the "t=xxxxx" parameter to the query string of the request (where xxxxx is a random 5 digit number such as 36771).

For example, when we try to browse "http://www.mytestserver.com/test.asp" from Nokia 5300, our web server will receive "http://www.myserver.como/test.asp?t=36771".

Some further information are as follows:
    1. The t parameter is not added by our web page. We even tried to browse to a non-existent page on our server, such as abcde.asp, and use Network Monitor tool to capture the network trace on our IIS web server to check the request from Nokia 5300, the t parameter is already added in the request.

    2. It is not likely that the t parameter is added by certain WAP gateways in the middle, because after the step 1 above, if I choose [Options]->[Page options]->[View address] on Nokia 5300 to view the url sent by Nokia 5300, the t is already added there.

    3. This issue cannot be reproduced consistently. The t parameter will be added occasionally, but not always.

Since our own web pages also use the t parameter in the query string for other purposes, the issue above will affect the functionality of our web pages.

Has anyone familiar with Nokia mobile phone encountered similar issue before? Will the Nokia 5300 phone automatically add the "t" parameter to the query string in certain occasions for some reasons?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks a lot!

    Y.Z

A weird issue.Have you tested with other phones to see if problem also happens?

Re: Nokia 5300 automatically add the "t=xxxxx" parameter into the query string

    Thanks for the reply.

Currently, this issues happens more often on Nokia 5300, but my colleagues have also seens this symptom on other Nokia phones like Nokia 3120 and Nokia N72. This even happens when browsing 3rd party sites like google pages, though the issue cannot be reproduced consistently.

So far, we haven't seen such issues happen on other phones, like Samsung phones, etc.

    Thanks,

Does it happen with particular network operators? Is there a difference when using a WAP access point vs. using an Internet access point?

Re: Nokia 5300 automatically add the "t=xxxxx" parameter into the query string

It's hard to answer this solidly at this point, as the issue cannot be reproduced consistently, and many times, it is hard to repro. Currently, we are testing using the China Mobile network. The Nokia 5300 uses CMNET access point and my colleague's other Nokia phones use CMWAP access point. Both of them have such issues occasionally.
